Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelby Morrow.
Hi Shelby, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It has always been my dream to own a farm. So, in 2019 I started Farm Raised with Love with a handful of chickens, a few goats, a couple of pigs, and a cow. As my farm grew, I needed a way to finance my vision. I also wanted more chickens to supplement friends and family with eggs. With that being said, I started hatching my eggs at home and saw my children’s eyes light up. I began teaching my kids how a chick develops. Friends, family, and neighbors loved the idea and wanted to try it. I created kits with everything they would need to successfully hatch chicks. After trial and error and a HUGE learning curve Rent-A-Hatchery took off with a word of mouth and social media. Soon, I began to share my idea with schools and homeschooling programs.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a rewarding journey. However, trying to find the balance between my active family and being a successful business owner has presented its challenges. With the support of my loving husband and other close family I have been able to find the perfect recipe for success.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We specialize in enriching people’s lives through learning about making a new life. We do this by providing an all-inclusive kit that guides educators/parents a clear path to successfully hatch chicks. Our rental kits include: incubator, heat lamp, food for the entire duration you will have the chicks, feeder/waterer, hatching eggs, a book for children, activities and a step-by-step guide. Teachers can easily adapt this program into their curriculum. I am most proud of sharing my love of animals with the community. It is my goal to teach future generations how new life on the farm is created.
