Check Out Joshua Tarvin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Tarvin.

Hi Joshua, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, I started the journey of cutting hair my 10th-grade year at Howard High School. Becoming a barber was never in my plans of life until I took a cosmetology class. When I touched my first pair of clippers, my life changed. I soon had the entire school, including the principal, coming to get a cut by me. Once I graduated, I went straight into barber college to become a Licensed Master’s Barber. Along my journey, I had a passion to use social media to showcase my work and brand my business. Not long after committing to barber school, I started a youtube channel showing and teaching people across the world my skills. Throughout barber school, I competed in many barber battles winning 1st place in a couple. By the time I graduated barber college, I had built a strong name throughout my city and amassed a strong following on social media. After barber college, I was very successful, but I had bigger dreams and soon enough they became my reality. I got the opportunity to cut a couple of NFL players for the New Orleans Saints, one being Vonn Bell who also has a history in Chattanooga.

From that point on, I continued to focus on building my brand. My relationship with Vonn Bell led me into the opportunity to work with the 2022 Superbowl Cincinnati Bengals team. Throughout my career, I have always stood on my integrity and treating all people the same with good intentions. By this time, my combined following on social media was over 100k+ with a big impact in the barber industry. After years of dedication to many clients in Chattanooga, I decided to push the limits by moving to Atlanta, Georgia. Along my journey, I learned a lot about goal setting and believing in myself to never stop dreaming. Moving to a new city was mentally challenging in not knowing exactly what was next, but I’ve always trusted the visions I had for my life. I believe in attracting the type of life you want, and I knew Atlanta was full of opportunities that I wouldn’t have back home. I’ve been in Atlanta for four months, and I’ve already had the opportunity to work with rappers Lil Baby, NLE Choppa, and Morray. I realized your network really is your net worth in any endeavor. I also recently opened a salon suite in Buckhead Village to be of service to many new clients in the Atlanta area. This is just a start to a new season of my journey, and I can’t wait to experience what’s next!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
In the beginning of my career, I struggled with confidence and I wasn’t always booked. I had days where I had no clients show up. Before starting my youtube channel, I doubted myself many times before actually going forward with it. I also had to sacrifice 1.5 years to commit to barber college which was a year-round program and juggle with being booked up every day after school. During that period of my journey, I spent a lot of time heavily focused on my career day in and day out. Building my business took a lot of hard work and late nights but I wouldn’t regret any of it. In my recent years, I’ve had times where I struggled with finding what was next for me to avoid feeling stagnant. Throughout my journey, I’ve learned that everything will happen when it is supposed to and the best thing to do is continue to work on myself to become the best version of me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Licensed Master Barber, I’ve been in the industry for six years licensed for three years. I specialize in men’s grooming, providing the highest quality of service. I look at my profession as more of an art and every client is a new canvas. Growing up I had a background of utilizing my creativeness I would find myself always drawing or painting something. I always paid attention to the smallest details of everything, I could say that’s why cutting hair is so blissful to me. I’m most proud of my attitude towards anything that I do, I always strive to do it to my best ability. I honestly feel like there is nothing I can’t do if I put my mind to it, and I feel like my confidence is what sets me apart from others.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality that I feel is most important to my success is confidence. Without the confidence to believe in yourself how can anyone achieve greatness. Everything that Im known for and have achieved came from my belief in knowing that if I set my mind to it, I could make it my reality. This quality led me on a path of discipline and the consistency to work until I reached my goals no matter how long it would take. I have a great relationship with God and I believe he gave us the power to become anything that our hearts desire.
