Conversations with Adrian Knight

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Knight.

Hi Adrian, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started to learn how to DJ in the early stages of COVID-19. Music has always been a passion of mine and I always loved hearing mixes on the radio. I had a talk with my friend Baylor and after that moment I bought some equipment. I would set up at the kitchen table and practice every night after work. I also listened to my friend @go.cwatts mixes everyday to inspire me to get better at my craft.. Her story is what pushed me to give DJing my best and to have fun. That’s my favorite DJ! I’ve also received tips from another legend named DJ Battio. He has been spinning for years and always gives me free advice on how to be better. My family and friends also have been my biggest supporters. I give them a lot of thanks because they given me opportunities to showcase my skills to different audiences. My first big gig was at Crave ATL in little 5 points a year later because of a friend referral.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road so far hasn’t been to bad since I’ve started. The biggest obstacle was being nervous and not messing up in front of my audience. I’ve grown from that point and just told myself to have fun.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a local DJ in the Atlanta area. I’ve most proud of giving the audience a great experience of music. I love to see people enjoying themselves and dance as I transition from each song. I try to educate the crowd on different samples another artist has used or even play a throwback song you haven’t heard in a very long time.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The best advice I have in the DJ business is to have fun. If you are having fun, the crowd will have fun as well. You know how to craft the music so give them the best experience by being the best you. That’s in the club, local parties or even if you are touring with another artist. Always have fun and love the product you are giving the audience.
