Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Saavedra.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been a sport perfomance coach for the last 12 years and I own a performance facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I moved to Atlanta in 2019 shortly before the pandemic.
While everything was shut down, my wife and I started our real estate investing company, Saavedra Properties LLC where we have now renovated five homes and either flipped them or have them now as rentals.
During the pandemic, we did not know what was going to happen with the economy and everything else but it allowed us to reset. We always were interested in real estate, but being a gym owner, it’s difficult to dedicate the time needed to learn. We studied day and night about the different strategies there are and which we were going to apply. It has since changed our life.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Never a smooth process! Finding the right contractors and even being conned out of $20,000 plus on our first project taught us a lot. It has made us tighten up so many systems and processes in our business that has helped. Finding the right team is crucial while being in real estate. You’ll find that many contractors are flakey and hard to do business with. When you’re new, it’s easy for people to try and take advantage of you not knowing certain things so I strongly suggest finding and investing in mentors to help you. They will save you a lot of stress, time and money.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Aside from being a strength and conditioning coach, I would now consider myself a real estate investor as well. I specialize in finding and acquiring deals as well as setting out plan for renovation and managing the project. I get the right people in the right place and get it done.
What sets my wife and I apart is that we renovate each home like it’s a home we would want to be in. You see a lot of flips where people will cut corners which, the name of the game is margin. I understand that. We put love into the home that we would like ourselves, even if it means stretching our budget a tad. It always ends up paying off at the end.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Word is bond. I’m someone who follows through. When I say I’ll do something, I’ll do it. I know it sounds cliche, but being in the professional world, it’s hard to find people in general who have follow through. If you find them, hold on.
