Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Abelita.
Amanda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
ABPR has been open since 2018. I wanted actors to have access to affordable PR. I saw so many people with great bookings and no press, no premiere invites, no media training, no designer looks, etc! I wanted to level the playing field and really celebrate the wins in the southeast! It wasn’t always easy and I worked very hard to prove myself to everyone. I had to impress the agents, managers, studios, etc. Now I have the big agents pitching their clients to me. I represent leads and series regulars all over the US. I’m so proud of what ABPR has become!
How do I do it? I’m blessed with an amazing team of women! We root each other on and push each other to dream big!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I first opened ABPR, I said YES to every opportunity. I learned very quickly that you will burn yourself out if you don’t learn to say NO. Quality over quantity became my motto. It’s important to leave yourself some time to put your phone down and enjoy life!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Abelita PR?
Abelita PR is a boutique public relations firm based in Atlanta with junior publicists in LA and NYC. We serve clients nationwide. We work with our clients in countless ways, including assisting with social media content, new websites, red carpet preparation, media placements, styling, photoshoots, and highlight articles. We assist with rebranding veteran actors and marketing fresh faces breaking into the industry. Abelita PR works closely with our clients and their teams of agents and managers to develop a strategy and plan of action. Our firm strategically markets our clients and diligently creates opportunities within various platforms. Abelita PR maintains a broad spectrum of clientele who work on projects for NBC, ABC, STARZ, Disney, Netflix, Nickelodeon and BET, plus award-winning TV and film actors! I’m also a development producer. I co-own a media company called 4D2 Media with Dale Falk Jr. We’re currently working with three properties and are pitching to networks and studios. It’s an exciting new adventure, and I love that I’ve been able to attach several of my PR clients to these projects.
I’ve learned that you have to be willing to evolve in this business.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I think it’s so important to support your fellow colleagues. I’d like to give a shoutout to Kellie Debellis. Kellie is an amazing social media manager and she’s such a wonderful ally in the field. She’s always there to lend a helping hand and share resources. I can always count on her to give sound advice and I’m so thankful for her friendship. Kellie is the social media liaison for ABPR, owns Debellis Media, is a co-owner of The Collab Experience Orlando and is a co-producer with me on a podcast called Star Confessions.
