Hi Kevaun, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Well first off, I’m an independent writer, artist and producer. My label is entitled M.A.F.I.A which stands for making a future in alliance. My first situation happened with an independent label called 3mg entertainment back in 2005. After that I began to take music more seriously on the business side, my family has always been musically inclined though, especially coming up in a church-type family. The most helpful tools that helped me get the resources I needed to do what I love would definitely be the networking, marketing, and investing. Yo, relationships play a big part in the industry these days.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Man listen if you’re making your money to invest off of a nine to five lifestyle while being a parent? You’re going to need side hustles and relationships because the road can be bumpy and expensive. Sometimes, it even seems like the job and side hustles put together aren’t enough and it takes money to make money for sure. Have a game plan and a team that sees the same vision you see. As long as your support system is stronger than you, you will succeed if that makes sense.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an artist, writer, and producer. I specialize in making hits for me and others as well. I’m known for being an entertainer for sure, but since I’ve picked up producing in 2020, I’ve been getting respect on a whole new level. I’m proud to be one of the first to ever perform in front of millions from my hometown. Not many see things like that coming from where I’m from. What sets me apart from others is my ability to elevate faster than the norm.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My team, Mafia has my back every step of the way! They help me put the blueprint together for the future and keep a leveled head in critical times. My engineer blac beats definitely gives me pointers on mixing and producing. Another engineer named phnntm definitely plays a key part in helping me with marketing strategies. Also, 3mg entertainment put me in front of my first real business contracts and were the first ones to believe in me and teach me how the industry works. I’m grateful for all genuine love I receive for sure.
