Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim P. Bartholomew.
Hi Kim, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
“Live a beautiful life!” is more than a tagline to me. What I value most, the thing that simultaneously leads and anchors, sustains and propels is my belief that I am made by and for the Creator of the universe. I maintain and proclaim that God fashioned me for His glory. I am merely a vessel for the Divine Spark! From childhood, I’ve always had a creative bent. That indwelling of an artistic aesthetic led me into art education where I continued to learn as much as I taught! By surrounding myself with others who searched for, produced, and grew to appreciate true beauty, I was fulfilling an innate calling.
For me, art has always been a means of exploration and expression of the spiritual context. That intrigued me and led me to obtain a graduate degree in counseling psychology. I eventually left the security of my classroom for the opportunity of my studio, and now an online gallery and clothing & accessories line featuring my original art! That shift has led to other outlets of revenue and certainly lifelong learning.
But the pulse of my passion in both personal and professional pursuits remains to show up and be available, allowing creativity to flow through me to those who seek the same beautiful life that I do. When building a career and brand, there are countless decisions to be made on a daily basis but staying true to my core belief that we each have a God-given bent, we must follow guides eternally. My work is less about the product and more about the process of being present to receive and reflect true beauty to those who seek to receive it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I find that my creative energy can become compromised or even drained when my focus must turn toward the business aspects of KPB Creative Services. With my husband now serving as Executive Director of our company, I am freed up to loosen my reins on most of that. We are each learning how to blend our best efforts to grow our brand together! Living a beautiful life is only realized as a team.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an artist, consultant, and teacher living in Roswell, Georgia. I grew up in Vidalia, Georgia and have always had a passion for the arts. After a 15 years career in art education and graduate degrees in counseling psychology, I merged my passions and launched a path to creating my own works as a form of therapy for the soul – for myself and viewers of my work. As an abstract artist, my work is steeped in patterns of stylized silhouettes, curvilinear visual rhythm, and symbolic (rather than realistic) colors and shapes. I work in a variety of media creating a series of themes to express what is felt beyond what is seen.
My original works, commissioned pieces, giclée’s, prints, cards, and fine art display calendars can be observed and obtained on my website (KimPBartholomew.com) and at local exhibits. A portion of all sales is donated to the Florida School for the Deaf and the blind (www.fsdb.k12.fl.us) where my niece, McKenzie Rose Bartholomew, attends school in St. Augustine, Florida.
My art business has been designated as a “Trusted Art Seller” with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products. I also launched an accessories and clothing line featuring my original art images! ArtWearbyKPB.com welcomes you to shop for art that you wear. This creative outlet makes my work easily accessible and allows for a greater audience beyond art collectors. At ArtWearbyKPB.com, “Elated and Elevated Boutique Clothing for Every Occasion”.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Perhaps the art industry is transforming into more online/digital or virtual galleries. But I believe that nothing can replace the impact of an in-person experience, reaction, or response.
