Check Out Olivia Thompson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Thompson.

Hi Olivia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always had a passion for planning and managing events as someone who is super organized and creative. I was approached by my friend Taylor Alexander, owner of The Brand Flourisher LLC, to plan her wedding in 2019. It was my first time planning and managing a wedding, and it was an experience I didn’t want to end. After that, I started interning with my mentor, Hester Parks, owner of Park Avenue Events and gained a lot of experience with a variety of couples tying the knot. During my internship, I made the decision to build my own brand, so that I could have something of my own that I was proud of. I officially launched Liv In the Moment Events in February 2020, right before the COVID-19 pandemic began. I was so excited to build my business, so it was extremely disappointing that it all came to a halt just a month later. Now that weddings and events have picked back up, I’m enjoying this ride. I’ve led the planning and execution of weddings, gender reveal parties, baby showers and even corporate events in the last 2 years. I’m looking forward to creating more magical moments for clients to come here in the Atlanta area and worldwide.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Besides having to limit events because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I think my biggest struggle has been setting myself apart from so many quality wedding and event planners here in Atlanta. I make it my duty to learn who my clients are personally and create moments that I know they will never forget. If I don’t know an answer to a question, I use every resource available to me to answer it. I want my clients to feel like they get the best out of me every day and especially on their Big Day, but sometimes it is hard competing with so many other planners.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
When I’m not planning a wedding or event, I work in the Marketing & PR industry as a Senior Account Executive for a boutique firm, KQ Communications. At KQ, I specialize in social media management, event planning, media management and writing. I work with clients in so many industries, so every day is an opportunity to do something different and learn something new. I truly enjoy working with people and I think it shows through my relationships with my clients. My experience in event planning through my business helps me excel in managing events for my PR clients.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
My absolute favorite thing about Atlanta is that there is always something to do, whether it’s trying a new restaurant, attending concerts or festivals or even just walking around in a certain area and stumbling upon an activity. There’s such a rich culture here and it’s shown throughout the city.

I don’t think this answer should be a shock to anyone, but my least favorite thing about Atlanta is the traffic!!! No other commentary needed.
