Today we’d like to introduce you to Divanna Johnson.
Hi Divanna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am starting a skincare line. My upcoming skincare line is called AJANE. It’s a skincare line that will consist of multiple natural and handmade products. I started my skincare line because I have a skin disease called eczema. I struggled a lot with my skin growing up. The eczema used to spread all over my body where I used to wear clothing all over my body all year long. I was bullied early in my life because my skin looked different from others. I had a major insecurity with my skin. As I got older, I decided to start a business to help others like myself to know they are not alone. I want to help people heal their skin and come together to help others with their insecurities.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Every day has its challenges and difficulties but I carry on a saying which is ” A mustard seed of faith can go a long way.” I struggled and battled everything a business has to offer mentally and physically. I believe that if you continue to work hard and have faith into what you want, you can achieve anything.
As you know, we’re big fans of AJANE. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
What you should know about my business is that not only does my business help those who wear our products find themselves and help others feel confident, but we help raise awareness for other organizations as well. I am specializing in skin care. What sets myself apart for other is I raise awareness for others like for mental health, victims of bullying and etc. As of right now, I am working on a project to help citizens in Mississippi. I support other black-owned business. I am proud brand-wise that what I am doing is not just a dream of my own it is to help others spread the same kindness to help those in need.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
The role that has luck played good in my life and business is two things, kindness and faith.
