Meet Benjamin Rudolph of Relevance Advisors in Old Fourth Ward

Today we’d like to introduce you to Benjamin Rudolph.

Benjamin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I previously worked at another agency as the Director of Business Development, but we were small enough that I also managed client accounts. I decided to go off on my own in January 2010. When I started Relevance Advisors, I had no clients and a non-solicit clause, so I had to build a new network.

Because of my experience selling search marketing, I was able to find clients and I could also do the work. Eventually, I couldn’t do all the work myself, so I hired my first employee, which led to getting office space and more hiring.  I’m happy to report the company continues to grow and expand.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. I took a pay cut and used personal savings to start the business. I knew I could get a job in digital marketing if the business didn’t work out. As it turned out, things worked out.

Please tell us about Relevance Advisors.
We are a digital marketing agency specializing in revenue driving paid search and social advertising, SEO, Amazon listing optimization, digital analytics and conversion rate optimization.

We help companies identify and drive qualified customers to their websites and optimize the experience in order to grow their businesses and increase the return on their digital investment. We think of ourselves as business consultants who use digital marketing as a tactic to drive revenue and profit.

For example, we helped the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (OCRFA) with strategic AdWords campaigns. The month before we assumed management of the Google AdWords Grant, OCRFA had spent just under $80, garnering only 89 clicks to their site. In just 60 days, we were attracting 14,000 clicks per month via AdWords campaigns. One year later, that number had catapulted past 45,000 clicks per month.

Atlanta is a great place for a digital marketing agency. It is the hub of all marketing in the Southeast, so there’s a network of agencies and a critical mass of companies to serve. The cost is lower than many other big cities. You have access to top talent at universities like Emory and Georgia Tech and you have the world’s busiest airport that allows you to fly nonstop almost anywhere.
