Hi Lisha Marie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, my name is Lisha Marie Mauzy. I am the owner of LikeaBossResumes. I have been writing in general for the last 25 years (resumes 15years). Growing up, I loved to write poems and short stories and always enjoyed writing papers. Writing has always been the easiest way for me to express myself and has always brought me peace. I was always the friend in school who would edit and proofread everyone’s papers.
My mom worked in HR when I was growing up, and she would help people with their resumes. She always talked about how unprofessional resumes looked, from formatting to content, and misspelled words. I never understood why a document that could be life-changing and help you make money was never taken seriously by people or taught to us in school. So, I served as her extra eyes and proofread and edited her resumes. It became a skill that stayed with me over time.
I had a professor in college pull me to the side during my junior year and commend my writing on a paper I had threw together at the last minute—and at that moment, I knew maybe I should do something with my writing. For years, I would write and review resumes for friends and family for free, and they all successfully landed jobs. I finally decided to take it seriously and make it a business right around when COVID hit. That is when things took off for me. I wrote, created, and edited all types of documents. I saw paperwork at work that needed to be updated, and I took it upon myself to recreate it to make it look more professional. I have always had an eye for detail—this led me to business writing. I now assist multiple companies, and small businesses creating forms, step-by-step guides, new hire welcome packets, contracts, and marketing materials.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Entrepreneurship is never a smooth road. I started this business as a full-time mom and healthcare professional, as well as running my son’s business (MauzyB. LLC). There have been many bumps along the way, but I take every challenge as a learning lesson to improve my processes and operations to make it work for my clients and me.
Juggling work and life is always a job in itself. Starting a business is a lot of hard work. It is definitely not for the weak. I have discovered much about myself and have grown so much throughout this journey. I learned to never to take on too much and that it is OKAY to take breathers because if my cup is not full, I cannot pour into anyone else. Second, I would have to say, working with different types of personalities and people, not everyone makes it easy to get the information you need from them. Communication is not always the best with everyone, and it can get frustrating at times, but I thank God for the grace that he gives me not only to deal with others but to trust the process, even for myself.

LikeABossResumes is a professional writing and consulting business. I help professionals and entrepreneurs elevate themselves to the next level. I offer various professional services such as resume writing, mock interviews, form/contract creation, notary services, small business development, career coaching and motivational advice.
I strive this business on producing quality results, professionalism, and authenticity. Building a connection with clients is crucial for me. I take the time to hear their story and learn their goals for their career or business ideas. Many clients come to me discouraged or overwhelmed about their journey, and I only speak life into them to give them the confidence and positivity they need to elevate and get out their own head. My method is positive minds=positive results….so trust the process!
My prices are unique as they are affordable for every professional. I am always coming up with new ideas and services to help people. For example, I offer free resume services for incarcerated individuals—who have recently been released from prison and are looking to enter the workforce. In addition, I also provide resume workshops for high school students, because they are our future and should have the essential resources to help themselves succeed in the workforce and in college.
LikeABossResumes is not built on me winning; it is heavily built on faith, helping others succeed, doing God’s work, and blessing everyone I come across. God blessed me with numerous skills and a purpose, and I am doing all that I can to help everyone become successful around me.
