Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Diaz.
Hi Amber, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Well, I started my skincare business because I was having issues with my legs where I had scars from suffering from cellulitis and the doctors had no real answers that would assist in the scarring. The doctor said, and I quote, “I know it’s not aesthetically pleasing to look at but you’re going to have to live life with those marks.” I would not accept that answer at all. I started researching home remedies and natural ways to help with scarring and found sugar scrubs.
I was already in the process of switching to an all-natural lifestyle because, at the time, I had just been diagnosed with Ms (Multiple Sclerosis). So making the switch to holistic healing and including skincare was awesome for me.
It has now been two years with my business and I love every moment of it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe everything comes with its ups and downs but for the most part, I love my process thus far. For me, the hard part is when sales are not consistent and figuring out how to better target my audience and new customers.
As you know, we’re big fans of Mari’s Girlz Organic Skin Care. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business offers Natural Skincare that includes Body Scrubs, Body Oil, Body Butter, Soap, Foot Scrubs, Bath Soaks, and beneficial oils that assist with pain and inflammation.
What sets me aside from other skincare brands is the research that goes into each product that I make. I need to understand each ingredient that I’m using and how it will benefit my customers. My brand was created off of suffering from a skin condition so it goes beyond making skincare for money and is all about healing.
The product that I am most proud of is my Neuropathy Oil. This oil is truly amazing and really helps with pain and inflammation. I’ve been told by my customers that this oil is magic. It helps ease the pain that is caused by a variety of conditions that cause nerve pain such as MS, Lupus, Carpal Tunnel, and more.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson that I have learned thus far is that my brand is not for everyone and that’s okay. We all have a target audience and customers. This helped me when I was feeling like I wasn’t good enough and that my products weren’t good enough as well.
