Check Out Heavy Crownz’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heavy Crownz.

Hi Heavy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I wrote my first rap in 5th grade for the school Christmas recital and have been rapping since. I took rap serious in my freshman year of college. There I began doing every little show you could imagine, From there, I set my sights on making a name in Chicago. So in 2015, I moved back to Chicago and begin planting seeds for my future. I was doing every hole in the wall show I could find and I brought my all to the stage every time I performed. With time my fan base begin to grow gradually and organically and more opportunities started opening up. I refined my brand, my sound, and my investment into my community. Now all parts of my life are integrated into my music and the work I do in my community of Englewood and people are now starting to catch on to the world I’m cultivating.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road for sure. So many challenges in my life have impacted my journey and brought me to this point. I lost my best friend and first rap partner to gun violence my senior year of college, I was engaged to be married and that ended, which was hurtful. I’ve had to sleep on couches, futons, and floors for years all in the name of keeping my focus on the craft and making that my highest priority. So to make it short, it has not been smooth but it has been rewarding due to all of the lessons and opportunities for growth I’ve been presented.
