Today we’d like to introduce you to Naomi.
Hi Naomi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I think I first started taking music seriously when I was in high school in South Florida. The high school I went to at the time was a career-focused school, so I was in theatre and choir, and I also took music theory. At my church, I was in the worship team and I also led worship for the middle school ministry, so all of those different activities really solidified my passion for music. After I graduated, I knew that I didn’t want to take the traditional route but my parents were really adamant about me going to college. So, I took some time to save up my money and I decided I wanted to move to Atlanta to pursue music. In 2017, I moved to Atlanta and I studied at Atlanta Institute of Music and Media, and I graduated in 2019. Once I had my degree, I focused on launching my career as a solo artist and I released my first single titled Babe. Since then I’ve been working with a lot of amazing artists and creatives here in Atlanta and releasing music independently.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being an independent artist has definitely provided some challenges, but my journey so far has been really positive. I will say, at times it was draining having to build myself from the ground up, but it’s really important to me to be able to have control of my art. I care about all of the details, from the production to the writing, to the styling and the concept, and even the marketing. It can be really difficult to manage all of the moving parts, but I’m super blessed to have an incredible support system and a great network of people who help me with everything. The biggest struggle for me has been maintaining good mental health, but that’s why it’s so important to pace myself and not push myself too hard.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My name is Naomi and I am a musician, producer, model and content creator based here in Atlanta, Georgia. I’m most known for my eclectic style, and my fierce electronic-pop sound. I would say what sets me apart from others is my signature look with my sharp eyebrows, colorful makeup, and platform boots. I’m most proud of my resilience because music is not an easy career to pursue and there’s certainly been times where I’ve been discouraged but I just always remind myself that it’s a journey and not a race.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
My favorite podcast right now would have to be The Self Love Fix by Beatrice. It’s a great podcast about mental health, self-love and healing that has definitely gotten me through some difficult times in my life.
