Today we’d like to introduce you to Asia Mack.
Hi Asia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Since I was a little girl, I would always doodle in my notebook fashion designs I wanted to create. For a long time, I was the only child and everyone knew me as the little diva. I also was bullied in school due to having two astigmatisms, so I wore huge glasses most of my childhood. Because I was teased frequently, I would break my glasses often to not be picked on and “look like the other kids”. I never let that deter me. Fashion was always one of those things that stuck with me. My senior year of High school, I was stuck between going to school to be a CPA or following my true passion of doing something in the fashion industry. I took accounting and business electives in school which made me fall in love with that but no matter what my heart always lead me back to fashion. My senior year of high school is also when I started my YouTube channel. Senior year was just all about truly finding the real true me. I tried to get into FIT and I was turned down so I decided to start my college journey at community college & I’m honestly most happy with that decision because I wasn’t ready to leave home. I graduated with my associates in fashion/apparel design in 2016 and decided to finish my bachelor’s degree at LIM College in NYC.
At the time, my community college and LIM had a transfer agreement. Life away from home was a very different experience & overall, it caused me to develop some anxiety and depression. Not only was I faced to adult on my own mostly but I was alone for the most part in a new city that I had always wanted to live in but I got too caught up with trying to still live a full life at home. Living on campus eventually didn’t work out for me so I moved back home & took a semester off. This is where I really started to take my craft seriously. I started to create content on a daily basis, I was working, I was doing everything that I love. I started to learn more and more about makeup. I think what I missed most was a routine & structure. Anyone who has ever lived in NYC, you know that’s a very spontaneous life to live. Fast forward to today, I still enjoy going to the city here and there but I love the fact that I can come back to NJ to regroup. I have a Fulltime government job however I am still a fashionista and content creator 24/7/365. I enjoy creating content and growing my platforms.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It most definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I enjoy what I do but when I’m not feeling well or in the right mental state, I cannot create. When I was in college, I was in a really bad toxic romantic relationship with someone I swore I’d spend the rest of my life with but ultimately that person added to my stress and depression & even though I made it look good by getting on the camera and being this online persona, I was really doing bad mentally & emotionally. Also, as a content creator and business owner, it’s a daily struggle especially when you cannot get what you need to do your job. It can be a lot from time to time but the best thing to do is to continue to strive & push forward no matter what.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about All Dolled Up Cosmetics & Accessories?
I own a growing cosmetics and accessories line. I’ve been in business for two years now. I started my business simply off my love of makeup. Makeup was just another way for me to creatively express myself. I’ve learned so much and I am still learning so much about the craft itself. My brand is known for the product names & the glitters I offer. Most of my eyelashes I carry are named after a woman in my family. I felt that it was very important to do because they helped shape and mold me. What sets my brand apart from most is the simple fact that I only produce products that I will equally love. If I don’t love a product, I’m not putting it out for the consumers. I also believe in every product I sale as well. What I am most proud of brand-wise is that for one most importantly, I’ve made it two years in business. I completely fund my own business. No help, no handouts. Just me, myself, and I! A lot of people don’t even get to see past a year of being in business. I’m also proud because I’ve created a safe space for my customers. I’ve never created a bad customer experience or ever really had one because I’m big on customer service. I worked in retail for most of my life so I pride myself on being good to people because you do not know how much being a nice person overall can do to another person who may be having a bad day. Currently, ADUC offers cosmetic grade glitters & pigments, Siberian Mink eyelashes, Faux Mink eyelashes, costume jewelry, hair accessories, handbags, and beauty tools.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is really being able to fully enjoy my childhood without judgment. My mother, father, and grandmother let me just be the individual I truly wanted to be. They let me grow into the woman I am now. I always had them by my side to guide me but they allowed me to learn on my own. I played with dolls literally until right before high school & honestly today, I probably would still play with them because it’s one of my favorite pastimes but that’s where my online persona “Dolly Roman” and my brand name truly stemmed from.
