Meet Jordan Welch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Welch.

Hi Jordan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my entrepreneurial journey towards the end of my high school years, around 2017. I grew up in Austell, GA while attending South Cobb High School where I started a very minor clothing line called “2nd Saints”. Of course, being my first “business” at a fairly immature age, it failed quickly. Not long after, I started selling Sunglasses under “Michelle & Michael” (@hausxmm) which was the introduction into my high-end streetwear clothing brand. While Michelle & Michael is reconstructing in the background due to COVID-19, I’m anticipating a new drop in the coming year (2023). I also run a successful, service-based business named “Golden Phoenix Branding” (@goldenphoenixbm) where I design websites, logos, business cards, etc. for other small businesses and entrepreneurs. I’ve done everything, from re-branding a company logo to preparing a store-front launch in a Simon Mall.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been a roller coaster, to say the least. Surviving in this generation is tough and I’ve faced many hardships throughout my journey. It’s very hard to grow a business when you also have single adult responsibilities (i.e., rent, insurance, car, etc.). I’ve had to place my businesses on hold numerous times to focus on life and emergencies. Along with dealing with severe anxiety and moderate depression, it’s a lot to overcome but with great rewards.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Right now, I’m in school for real estate sales, attending Barney Fletcher. I actually specialize in sales. I sold high-fashion jewelry from 2018-2021 and then sold luxury vehicles from 2021 to very recently. I’m known for my natural hair campaigns that I participated in before 2020. I’ve worked with brands such as PuffCuff, Uncle Funky’s Daughter, Sally Beauty Supply, Scotch Porter and more! I would have to say I’m most proud of my achievements in influencer-ship, working with multiple companies and being rewarded for something you love to do. Unfortunately, I haven’t done any campaign work recently but would love to do more in the future for brands only in my circle of peers. What sets me apart for others is that I never back down from a challenge. The hardest working people go through the most hardship because they always have more to lose. Having more to lose is fuel to feed the fire and keep you going. I also am not one to gate-keep my secrets and want to show other beginning entrepreneurs the way to achieve their goals based off my experience. Aside from anything work or business-related, I also paint and post my artwork on social media and even do custom work sometimes for friends. I will start showcasing my art soon in Marietta!

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the ambience of Atlanta. The variety of shopping centers and restaurants is amazing. There’s a ton of really nice sceneries for photo opps and bring loved ones to make cool memories. Atlanta also is a new main capital for entertainment across the world highlighting more focus on black & LGBTQ+ communities. The only thing I could possibly speak down upon in Atlanta is the traffic and that’s only because there’s so much to offer and people come from all over the country to experience it all themselves.
