Today we’d like to introduce you to Monaleto C. Irby.
Hi Monaleto, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been in the capacity of Leadership and Staff Development Training since 2001, while working at The Bridge, Inc. a Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation facility for juveniles in Gadsden, Alabama. I was asked to be one of the trainers for the agency. That took off after several evaluations indicated the staff preferred me as their instructor. I became the primary instructor for the agency for staff. I left that agency in 2003 and started work at Coosa Valley Youth Services in Anniston, Alabama and became the primary instructor for that agency. I have prided myself in providing relevant information in the most positive and innovate way as possible. It has never been the normal training. I had the opportunity to provide summer In-Service Training to teachers sponsored by a program with my alma mater Jacksonville State University in 2004. The title of that session was “Dealing with At-Risk Youth”. This was literally my first presentation I created and put together. It was overwhelmingly received and it led to some of those same teachers inviting me to their school districts around Alabama to conduct training. I started mentoring and speaking to different schools(motivational speaking and classroom Career Days) in both Alabama and Georgia. For a group of Teachers in the Summer of 2004. The title of the Session was “Dealing with At-Risk Youth”. This was the first presentation I put together for a training. That led to several of the teachers in that session inviting me to their school districts around Alabama. In the meantime, I started mentoring and speaking to different schools (motivational speaking, classroom Career Days) in both Alabama and Georgia. The students and teachers were very receptive and I was invited back year after year. I moved to Georgia in 2007 and was hired at the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice in October of the same year. After almost four years as a probation officer, I moved to the Office of Training in 2011.
After almost four years as a probation officer, I moved to the Office of Training with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice in 2011. I am currently in what is known now as the Office of Professional Development and was recently promoted to Deputy Director. I have pride myself in leaving an impact on students and staff alike. I am 110% committed to making a lasting impression on any subject I facilitate. After being asked over the years to provide different leadership and staff development training to agencies and schools throughout Georgia, I was encouraged to start my own consulting business. I procrastinated for almost 10 years. During the pandemic in 2020m MCI Motivated Intervention Solutions, LLC. was created and established providing Leadership and Staff Development Training. This includes Collegiate and Youth Development Tracks. www.mcimotivatedsolutions.com.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been pretty good so far. I have made so many connections. With a full-time job, I am able to build my brand through networking. I have literally gained clients by someone sitting in my session at a conference and then inviting me to their business to provide specific training. My Fraternity Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., who are in a position to bring me on in their organizations, have been a valuable resource. My first contract was offered by a Fraternity Brother at his agency. Slow and Steady has been my motto. It is working for me.
We’ve been impressed with MCI Motivated Intervention Solutions, LLC., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My personal business is Motivated Intervention Solutions, LLC., which I own and serve as the primary facilitator. This business provides leadership and staff development training for organizations, businesses, and schools. I am most proud of the opportunity to provide relevant, real-life training for those who are looking for an out of box experience. I cater my training to the need of the organization or business. I love the consultation meetings, where we discuss the needs of the organization and they are literally helping me build the training for their teams. This is what sets me apart from others. There is no cookie-cutter training and all agencies who use my business will understand that this is not your normal sitting in a class listening to a monotoned facilitator. There is singing, situational comedy, a heavy dose of personal life experiences discussed, a lot of laughter, and maybe some emotional moments. It all makes for a “New Level of Thinking.”
Who else deserves credit in your story?
There are so many to name. However, there are a couple that stands out in this moment.
My wife, Charlisa. She is a great partner. She supports me with all of my ideas. She is a true partner who wants the best for me and knows this is my passion and always asks, “What do you need, Baby?” She wants this to work for me.
Katrina Roper Smith she is the one who showed me how to create a power point back in 2004/2005. She helps me get my first gig with Jacksonville State University. She poured different resources into my life that were pivotal during that time.
Danielle Williams(Hunter) who stated, Mr. Irby you need to have your own Business. She was a great co-worker who actually made my first flyer back in 2009. It motivated me on so many levels.
My small circle of friends and Frat, who continue to encourage me to stay the course and provide unspoken prayers and words of wisdom during moments of need.
My Mom – who simply says I am proud of you. This still gives me chills and makes me want to go harder, so she can remain PROUD. Pastor Fred D. Moore Christian Chapel Baptist Church- Demopolis, Ala., who continues to show great support all these years. He was my pastor growing up. Who baptized me when I was in 7th grade. He highlights any accomplishments when I am home visiting. He continues to inspire me and I don’t want to disappoint him all these years later.
