Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherry DeVouse Dennard.
Hi Sherry, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a little girl growing up in Alabama, I had a vivid and vast imagination. My love for books served as access to an outside world unknown to me. Even in my humble beginnings, I aspired to be more than my circumstance suggested I could be. Once I graduated high school, I began my collegiate career at Tuskegee University and ultimately finished up my B.S. in Business Management at Albany State University.
Honestly, the path to entrepreneurship wasn’t one that I thought I would ever travel. I started my professional life in the Pharma industry in various roles and positions that spanned over 20+ years. I was taught to go to school, get a good paying job…you know, play it safe! Thus, when the idea to become a business owner was presented to me, it was very intimidating. I mean really, what did I know about running my own business? Self-doubt and fear set in, so I ran from the opportunity for almost two years. During that hiatus, I started thinking about the “what if’s”. What if I take a chance and win! What if I were passing up the opportunity of a lifetime. What if this is the paradigm shift I’ve prayed for. The answer became clear that I most certainly will lose if I never even try! I decided to bet on myself and take a calculated risk. Surely if God brought me to it, he’ll bring me through it. With that, I decided to put my foot on the gas and just go for it! Life is funny that way…I mean, we all have free will to choose. If you always choose the safe route, who knows what opportunities you may forego as a result.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As an entrepreneur, it’s an ever-changing landscape full of opportunities and challenges. Some are predictable and others not so much. For example, no one could have predicted a full-blown pandemic happening in this day and age! Competition remains fierce and you must learn to stay agile and relevant. Master your craft, network, and scale is the name of this game. If you become stagnant, there’s always someone else out there ready to do what you were not willing to do. Stay late to get the job done, go to a networking event, volunteer in the community, and just get after it- no excuses!

I have an amazing professional team of individuals who make it all come together in my office! Without them, it would be next to impossible to have achieved the accolades we have to date. My family is also very encouraging and my biggest cheerleader! They are my “why” and give me inspiration and courage to keep striving to be the best I can be!
