Meet DJ Kno It All

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Kno It All.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well, I was around music at a very young age because my father and my uncle were DJs. So naturally, I always loved music and I started to learn how to DJ when I was a kid. My older brother was also DJ’ing when I was young so I picked up on hip-hop. I started taking it serious in High School and would do house parties here and there, but when I moved to Atlanta for college is when everything started to fall in place for me. I was DJ’ing and throwing the biggest parties in the AUC Atlanta University Center as well as Georgia State. I eventually moved on to doing more industry parties and got the opportunity to DJ on Radio for Streetz 94.5 where I have been a mixer since 2012.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s never a smooth road in anything that your going to do, so no there have been so detours, loops, and curves in the road for me too. Well, when you first get in the game as a DJ it’s a struggle to actually get your money. I know that sounds crazy, but sometimes you’re doing whatever parties you can get and the promoters of the party might not make enough to pay you. I think we all go though that though when you’re trying to turn passion to profit. Besides that probably all of the ups and downs you experience being an entrepreneur, you can make 1,000,000 one week and make 1 dollar the next two weeks. I’ve been blessed to be able to stay consistent with my brand though.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well, I’m a DJ from New York and I’ve been living in Atlanta for about 18 years now. I Dj on local radio here for Streetz 94.5 where I DJ the Rush Hour Mixtape at 5. I also do some of the hottest parties in the city. I guess I would say my specialty is being able to create a vibe for people to feel good. When I walk into a party it’s my job to make everyone in that party forget about all the things that are stressing them out and just feel good. When I DJ on radio that’s also my objective, I get on at 5PM so that’s when it time to clock out. I like to make people feel like they can get a release, kind of like a recalibration of your spirit before you make it home to the family or go pick the little ones up. I would say what I’m most proud of that sets me apart from other DJs would be how I can read a crowd and make them feel my energy.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If you’re just starting out I would say this is a marathon not a sprint. I know that sounds so cliché but it’s true. There are going to be ups and downs but you have to push through and believe in yourself. Right when your ready to give up that’s when the magic happens but you have to push through to get there. I just wish I knew the business aspect of the game better when I was younger. Back when I was younger, I was lucky if I could rent a club for a party, now my mind is on ownership and different types of deals.
