Hi MaK, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello! My name is MaKayla but people call me MaK and I am a content creator, creative director, and the CEO of Smak’d my premium rolling paper company. With my background in entertainment production, I have been able to be a part of projects from conception to viral sensations. Working with a major artists like Lil Baby, Gucci Mane, Migos, 21 Savage, and many more. Aside from my experience on video sets, I also create advertisement decks, music video treatments, promotional flyers, and creative direct photo and video shoots. I love what I do. Bringing ideation to life is magical. Throughout my navigation in the entertainment industry, I discovered that I don’t always want to work for someone. After months of continuous job rejections during the COVID job market, I had a phone call with my dad and he said “Trail-blazers don’t become who they are by walking the same path as everyone else, Create your path; blaze it.” I went to a job interview one day and after getting yet another job rejection, the only question I could remember from the interview was “Can you roll blunts?”. I ended up rolling up that day and literally nothing was going right, the rolling material I had sucked. So I got to work, created the perfect paper and day by day, I planned on creating the life that I wanted to live.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, entrepreneurship isn’t easy. I learn something new every week. However, having the freedom to create your schedule and working from where you want is a very large bonus.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve had several mentors that have made a major impact in my journey. My boss Daps, has opened so many doors for me with CR8TIVE ROW he gives great advice and insight to the operations of a business. Milan from Milano Di Rouge has showed me that you really can make your dreams a reality; and every woman on her team is a BOSS it’s inspiring to be around. My friend Claycee Hackney owns several businesses and was able to connect me to some of the executives at Viola Cannabis. This allowed me to absorb so much more knowledge on the Industry. Also, my mom has been a huge factor in everything I do; she’s created my work ethic and drive over the years. She’s taught me to not settle when setbacks occur I can hear her voice saying, “let’s make it happen”.
