Meet Gerald Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerald Davis.

Hi Gerald, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started off taking pictures for flyers in college. Knowing what I know now, they weren’t very good, but it was a good platform for me to get started. It never really dawned on me that it could be a business until way down the line. The picture part of the business wasn’t that hard, but learning how to run a business was where the real grow came from. Learning to manage and work with people is wait different than learning how to shoot and develop a picture.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. There have been a lot of instances of setbacks and struggles, but overall, they really were opportunities for my capacity to be strengthened and stretched. Without resistance, we really don’t grow right?

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So for my business card…I’m a photographer/videographer~a content creator. But really what I do is create and document memories. If you’ve seen any wedding videos out there, it’s probably my drone work attached to it. If I had to say what am I known for, I’d say it would be my portrait work and event photography. I’m proud of every shot that I deliver to my clients, so “what am I most proud of?” That answer changes every day!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I think the hard part of a creative professional journey in a pandemic era is actually getting out and meeting people. Most people lose the fight because they just don’t show up. Usually, if you’re in a place and you have relevant talent, people will usually find you. Just be there and be open, and GOD sends you the right people.
