Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Davis.
Hi Aaron, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my career as a real estate agent back in 2018. I originally wanted to be a real estate investor full-time, but I saw that being a realtor could provide me with many benefits as an investor. Once I received my real estate sales license, I realized that this was a career path that could not only help me on my journey with investing but I could also provide a great service to family and friends with home ownership. So once I committed to being a real estate agent and starting my own business, I quit my job in 2019 and decided to be a real estate agent full-time. I didn’t have any current business when I quit my job, but I knew that I would give myself the best chance at being successful if I was all in 100%. I was very fortunate in being mentored by a top realtor in Georgia that helped jumpstart my career and allowed me to shadow her and even gave me one of her clients to work with. I received my first sale four months after I quit my job, and since then I’ve closed over 52 deals. In March of 2022, I teamed up with my mom, and we have started our own real estate brokerage firm, Davis and Davis real estate. My mom is the broker/owner of the company and she is also an active real estate sales agent. Aside from being a real estate agent, my wife and I started our real estate investment company in 2020. With our investment company, we find distressed properties to renovate, and we will either sell the property or we keep them as rental properties.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There is always challenges when starting, maintaining, and scaling a business. In terms of my real estate sales business, one of the challenges I faced was changing my mindset. It could be very discouraging at times, especially starting out because you will not have any business. But what I’ve learned on this journey is that if you stay consistent with your marketing, nurturing your business, answering your phone, and following up you will do well in this business. I also had to learn that every day will not be a home run deal, but making small progress each and every day will lead me to success.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In terms of my business, I’m most proud of the trials and tribulations that we had to overcome when investing in real estate. My wife and I had to face a lot of adversity when starting our business, but we managed to not only get through it, but we’ve become much more resilient because of it. It also brings me joy when we can bring my daughter to a closing with us, or when she is able to walk through properties with us. For her to see us building a business from the ground up, and taking these risks for our family is truly the ultimate reward.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that might surprise people in regard to my real estate sales business is that I didn’t pay for much marketing my first two years in the business. I was able to build my business by word of mouth, referrals, and social media. Now I’m at the point in my career that I do have a marketing budget and an assistant that will allow me to scale my business. This was necessary in order for me to grow and not become stagnant in this business.
