Daily Inspiration: Meet Tyler Lord

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Lord.

Tyler, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began photography 15 years ago and was doing a lot of fashion and street photography. I was asked to shoot clubs early in my career and really enjoyed shooting music and people in the nightlife scene. From there I was able to meet people, artists, managers and other creatives who set me on the right path. There have been many ups and downs in my career but it has lead me to work with Zac Brown Band and Caroline Jones as their Creative Director.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think in any career, there are going to be ups and downs. All the Artists, Clubs and Labels I have worked with have been amazing but I believe it was finding the right fit with an artist to create and progress their career. The biggest struggle I’ve had is losing a little bit of that creativity early in my career. The internet has been an amazing tool to have to work on progressing your style and creativity as an artist.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m currently the Creative Director for the Zac Brown Band and Caroline Jones. I specialize in Video and Photo content. What sets me apart is difficult to answer. I believe the creatives out there right now are amazing and I have a style that could be different from someone else. I believe my biggest attribute is working with the artist and management to create the best product for the client with a little PROJECTBLACKBOXX spin on it.

I am most proud of being nominated for the Iheart Music Awards in the category of Top Tour Photographer.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Covid was tough. Our industry shut down it was a really tough time. Caroline Jones had the opportunity to go to New Zealand with her now husband and we still recorded, shot a music video (yes, I was states side) and it was on CMT. Come in (But don’t make yourself comfortable).

We figured it out like everyone did. We are truly blessed to be touring again and have music back into people’s life.
