Rising Stars: Meet Nicole Macias

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Macias.

Hi Nicole, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a Model & an Actress. Growing up, I always wanted to be a model but having a rare skin condition that was not very well known at the time made it hard for me to think it was even possible. I was born with Vitiligo, a condition that affects 1% of the world. My white blood cells attack my pigment as if it were a virus and then the outcome are the white pigmented areas on my skin. I knew there was something that set me apart from others as I grew up, I just didn’t know what I would be doing with that. I knew I wanted to be a positive influence for those with and without Vitiligo, young and old. I wanted to remind people that you can love yourself just as you are. Every part of you is beautiful and it’s important to embrace that beauty.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It certainly hasn’t been easy. Of course, as a young girl, I wasn’t always as confident in my skin as I am now. I went through all the bullying & tried all the treatments. It wasn’t until my preteen age years that I truly embraced the uniqueness of my skin. I realized I was forever changing and I found beauty in that. I’m proud of every bit of who I am and I wouldn’t want to have it any other way.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work in film, television, music, modeling and more. I’m proud of my drive and my progress. I’ve been known to never stop working and I don’t see the harm in that. As long as I’m setting a positive example for those to pursue their goals and to embrace all that is you, then I know I’m on the right track.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
You don’t know what you’re capable of until you try. Give yourself a chance. You might be surprised what you’re capable of. Don’t go into things doubting yourself. Your fear is the biggest thing holding you back, don’t let it stop you from getting what you want or where you want to be. There’s nothing wrong with trying. It’s better to have tried and received what you wanted then to not even have given it a chance and wonder what could’ve been.
