Today we’d like to introduce you to Tillie Williams.
Hi Tillie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m originally from Lafayette, Louisiana. I was raised by a single mother my dad was in and out my life that’s all I knew. I never knew stability, how to save, how to push through when things got hard. I had to learn that along the way, I’m only 20. When I turned 16, I decided it was time for a change and I moved to Washington with my Pops, not that I’m not grateful but he literally spoiled me rotten. Anything I asked for he gave, and I got used of that so now here I am 20 don’t know any life skills really but I’m not crying about it. I read daily not for fun but to learn life skills my parents failed to teach me because their parents failed to teach them. I work 4 jobs and I’m still barely making it but I’m making it just enough to get me where I wanna be and that’s successful. Yes, it’s hard but if it was easy everybody would do it. I’m learning to continue to push through no matter how hard it get and one day I will go back home and help people that struggled just like me.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I struggled financially, mentally, and physically. I suffer with bipolar disorder and severe depression. It’s not easy getting myself up and going get it but I still do it because I have dreams that I’m trying to turn into a reality. I’ve had people try to steal my ideas, some succeeded. I’ve had friends and family stab me in the back, use & abuse me. I still keep going because I’m not letting anything hold me back.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an entrepreneur, I currently just graduated cosmetology school. I’m a hairstylist, model, & a business owner. My business is not making any money yet but it will be a 6-figure business. Remember my name, Tillie Williams aka TeeMariee
How do you define success?
I define success as someone who has their life together, know what they want and goes and get it no matter what obstacles are put in front of them. Someone who isn’t afraid to involve others in their plan because they know that you have to know and connect with people to be successful.
