Rising Stars: Meet Anesha Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anesha Smith.

Anesha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in healthcare around 2014, as a certified medical assistant. I started learning about different health issues affecting every community but definitely a lot around the black community. I learned about so much about hair loss, such as alopecia, cancer (radiation/chemotherapy), and certain prescribed medications that could possibly cause hair loss. I was also suffering from hair loss due to my lack of education about my hair type, texture, and the use of harmful chemicals on my hair and scalp. I was trying almost every product on the market, and nothing was helping my hair loss, it was more of an irritant to my hair and scalp. I grew tired of spending money and getting negative results. I began to do research on the specific issues that I was facing regarding my hair and scalp. I wanted to moisturize, protect and grow the hair that I loss back. I created a product that doesn’t contain any chemicals, dyes, or irritants unless you have an allergy. I created a magic potion to give everything that was needed to sustain my hair. I began to promote my product as a test trial to see would it help others in the same way it helped me, and the reviews were phenomenal. My whole desire is to help others in any way that I can, especially with my experience with hair loss. It was a struggle trying to regain my original confidence and rebuild myself back up as a woman, this is only the beginning.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road will always have obstacles, detours, and distractions. Most of my struggles along the way were guidance and direction, meaning that I did everything on my own in the beginning. I created the blueprint, delivered the plan, and continued to push my business without a team or financial support. It was a challenge, but I continued to learn and push through. I’m still learning and open to every piece of knowledge about running a business and just anything in general. The utmost thing that I have learned is that if I give up, I’ll never live up to my fullest potential.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am currently a certified medical assistant and entrepreneur, owner of Hairspice. Both industries have taught me so much about time, value, and people. I am most proud of everything that I have endured, I’m still here, trying, pushing, and moving forward. I am proud that I can encourage and motivate others that are surrounding me and the younger generations. My outlook on a lot of things set me apart and differentiate me from others. The vision that I envision and the journey that I am willing to take to get what belongs to me.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson learned on this journey is to take your time. Don’t compete with others, enjoy your space and what you have worked for. Always remember that your time is your timing and don’t stop because you’re ready to be at a certain level, a certain time. Accept the good and the bad and take heed and learn from all your mistakes. Remember you’re not perfect so without perfection mistakes happen but, continue going forward if you fall, get back up and continue the course. No matter what, you can’t give up on yourself!
