Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Collins.
Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
In order to get to the places, you’ve never been or do the things you’ve never done you must take risks! I would not be where I am today if I didn’t take any risks. It’s all about taking calculated risk with a plan set in place. When I finally discovered the path, I wanted to take was to pursue entrepreneurship, I made sure I did as much research as possible prior to executing the task. The first major risk I took was dropping out of graduate school; I was attending Winston-Salem State University studying Health Administration. I dropped out halfway through the semester to instead pursue cosmetology school so I could become a licensed esthetician. Dropping out of graduate school to attend a community college is huge risk, it almost looks as if you are going backwards. The biggest risk I took was finally pulling the plug and quitting my full-time job to pursue my business Refined Brow & Beauty. These decisions were the best risks I could have ever taken to see growth within myself and my business.
Upon graduating school, I was working as a teacher assistant for 1st grade. Every day after work (work schedule 7:15 am-4 pm), I was working on gaining my clientele. My schedule was open to book from 4:30 pm-10 pm during the week along with Saturday and Sunday morning from 8 am-12 pm. About a year and a half later in January 2020, I quit my full-time job to pursue Refined Brow & Beauty. I went from having 100 appointments in a month to having over 400 appointments in a year; fully booking my schedule each and every month
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! All journeys will come with challenges you have to endure to grow and to learn. I quit my job in January 2020 to pursue Refined Brow and Beauty, 2 months later the world shut down from the pandemic of Covid-19. I had no job and legally was not allow to perform any services. I was devastated yet motivated! Instead of being down on myself, I figured out how I could capitalize on the situation. I did everything I could to market and grow my exposure during this downtime. By the time everything was starting to open back up I was able to fully book my monthly schedule.
As you know, we’re big fans of Refined Brow & Beauty. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
As a licensed esthetician, I can perform services such as skin care services and hair removal services such as facials, body waxing, and more. However, I chose to solely work with one of the most important features of your face; your brows! Your brows frame your entire face. When your brows are on point, nothing else matters! Being a brow artist is not easy and not everyone can do it. As a brow artist, you must be super detailed, every brow hair matters. Removing the wrong hairs will dramatically change your brows. When you are sitting in my chair as I’m doing your brows, I create a brow shape that is tailored to you and your face. Everyone’s brows and faces are different shapes and sizes; therefore, you cannot have anyone else’s brow except yours. I’m most known for my brow style I create natural brows specifically for you, I don’t shape everyone to have the same cookie cutter-shaped brows. I offer brow services ranging from waxing, threading, tinting, and soon to be offering semi-permanent ombré brows and brow lamination. I also have a brow line ranging from retail products down to brow tools for professionals.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I will be expanding from servicing Charlotte, North Carolina to also Atlanta! Book your brow appointments and tell a friend to tell a friend! I can’t wait for this next chapter and all that comes with it!
