Conversations with Chris Brunson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Brunson. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Chris Brunson is an International recording artist who is also a preacher, songwriter, arranger, and workshop clinician. Chris Brunson established the International gospel recording group, Anointed in 2006. Chris understands the music ministry calling on his life to bring a message of hope, healing, and deliverance through song. In addition to being an ordained Elder, Chris has been instrumental in starting and developing church choirs and praise teams throughout the southern region. Through his efforts, those music ministries are still thriving today.

Chris’ gospel recording group, Anointed, has released three projects entitled “Bid Me Come in 2002, and “Broken For Greatness” in 2014, and “Trust & Believe Live” in 2018.

They have sung with and before gospel music greats such as Pastor Shirley Caesar, Evangelist Dorothy Norwood, and Grammy Award winner Regina Belle.

They have toured in Washington DC, the Carolinas, New Jersey, Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Ohio, Virginia, and Internationally to Canada and London, England.

Chris & Anointed released their current project, “Trust & Believe Live” in September 2018. Their new single, “I Survived” can be heard in rotation on V-103 radio with Larry Tinsley Sunday Morning Praise. A Taste Of Tradition with Rhodell Lewis and their music can also be heard on their Pandora Radio station under the name Chris Brunson & Anointed. They have made several appearances on Atlanta Live and recently appeared on “Bobby Jones Presents.”

Their current project ‘Trust & Believe Live” earned them the honor of CD Project Of The Year in June of 2019 for the Gospel Choice Music Awards. They received the honor of Black Music Awards Gospel Artist Of The Year in October of 2020 for their positive musical work in the community.

Chris Brunson & Anointed recorded and released their new album entitled “Press Your Way Live” March 2022. Their hit single “Suddenly” is in rotation on WCLK 91.9. Chris’ mission when he sings is to encourage, impart, and serve wherever God sends him.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In my 20 years of music ministry, it has not been easy. I’ve had to learn the business of music, who I was (am) as an artist, and who God has called me to minister to. As the hymn writer said, “Through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus!”

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In addition to being an independent artist, I am an administrator. This skill has proven to be useful to me as a “Creative.” I believe in teaching others to do what I do and helping them to further enhance their crafts and abilities. I pride myself on not just leading by example but genuinely supporting the many other independent artists I mentor, and I am blessed to have a recording group who supports me in the same manner. I am most proud of having my son co-producing with me on my next project. He’s my “Legacy.”

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
There’s a book written by Simon Sinek entitled “Start With Why.” There’s also another book that helped me to reach many of the goals I set for myself leading to this point. The book is entitled “The Business of Music” written by M. William Krasilovsky and Sydney Shemel.
