Hidden Gems: Meet Kaitlyn Bryant of Pele Aesthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Bryant.

Hi Kaitlyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My closest three friends (Kevin, Brit, and Garett) are the only ones who knew I had the dream of “owning a medspa before 30”. I had no idea how I’d get there a few years ago. I was a new nurse working in critical care & trying to land a job in aesthetics. I took a job in plastic surgery PRN while working in the ICU, eventually that turned into a full-time position. While working in plastic surgery, I got to know and grow close to a few surgeons. One in particular, who agreed to train me in injectables and lasers. Fast forward, I left plastics & I started running a different surgery center. This is crucial, it’s where I met my now business partners. As I write this article, it’s wild to reflect on the fact that five months ago, we sat down with an idea and now Pele Aesthetics is open for its first month of business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been the furthest thing from smooth. My plastic surgery experience was turmoil at best. I learned a lot about myself, boundaries, and forgiveness through that experience. I almost gave up on aesthetics while transitioning to running a surgery center. On top of the professional side of life, I have a two small children, a husband, a home, and all the other things that make life beautiful but hard. The thing no one tells you when you take on the role of a mother and a professional is you always feel guilty. If you miss bedtime for a business meeting? Guilty. You miss a crucial deadline for your kid’s soccer game? Guilty. You haven’t seen your husband in days because of your alternating schedules to balance kids & work? Guilty. You are always playing a balancing act, running back and forth on a seesaw.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Pele Aesthetics was founded on the notion, “Enjoy the full beauty of your skin”. When you sit down in my chair, I want you to tell me three things you find beautiful about yourself before we talk about what you want to enhance. At Pele Aesthetics, we specialize in skin resurfacing, laser hair removal, facial contouring with filler, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles with botox, weight loss, chemical peels, medical-grade skincare, & wellness infusions/injections. We are known for inclusivity, our team is trilingual in Spanish, Portuguese, and English and all of our services can be tailored to any ethnicity. We offer the only skin resurfacing laser that is safe on skin tones 1-6 (JoAnna Swisher to Oprah). I am proud of my brand because we treat everyone from every walk of life and make them feel beautiful. I pride myself on getting to know my clients, checking in after procedures, and giving everyone a VIP experience. The service I love and recommend to everyone is the Opus Plasma Skin Resurfacing! I live by the motto, “you can’t pave a bumpy road”. Opus tightens and lifts skin while also ridding of sun damage, fine lines, and stretch marks. This lets you start your skincare routine & preventive treatments with a clean slate.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
“It’s all about who you know” – anyone from Atlanta. I found that by always being myself, you weed out who is for you and who isn’t. It’s not about knowing everyone but knowing who is good for you. Surround yourself with people who want to see you succeed and have goals/aspirations for themselves. If you can help someone, do it. I’ve had people willing to help me because I’ve been willing to help others. As an injector, I’m always open to letting people shadow me and helping the next generation of aesthetic nurses.
