Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Stevens.
Hi Taylor, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my business simply by helping a friend with her wedding flowers in May of 2018. I’ve always been a creative and artistic person. As a teenager, I frequently created arrangements for friends and family simply because I enjoyed it. After that first fateful wedding, word got out among my workplace, and eventually, I was working a wedding almost every month for distant friends. I soon realized it was probably time to make this thing official, so I got my LLC in 2020. Once I was really immersed in the wedding industry, I noticed the need for affordable vendors. So many young people choose to get married and have no means to have the wedding they really want. By offering floral arrangements at an affordable rate, well below market price, I hope to give my couples some relief as they enter such a meaningful time. Getting married doesn’t have to mean spending all of your savings. I believe you can still have the wedding of your dreams without compromising quality or affordability. I like to think this philosophy is what has made my business successful over the last few years. I hope to keep supporting my couples in this way for years to come!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, the life of Evergreen Florals has been as smooth as it could be. The most difficult struggle is being a one-woman show. It can be very physically demanding. What many people don’t see at a wedding is all the days, hours, and thorn pricks that go into creating the beauty they see. Completing bigger weddings without an assistant can be very challenging, but somehow it always gets done on time, and I ensure that quality is never compromised. Occasionally, I can hire some creative friends to help with the big wedding set-ups. But most of the time, I run the show from start to finish- including all the administrative work, marketing, client communications, invoices, designs, and setup. It’s so fun and satisfying to see it all come together each wedding day!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a young florist and artist, I like to think that my creative background in painting has something to do with my colorful, bold, lush floral style. More and more lately, I’m getting clients who are giving me the reins and letting me run with the color palette and designs. When this happens, the arrangements tend to be full of bright, bold, gradient colors, lush, textured flowers, minimal greenery, and modern design.
Apart from my affordable cost, I’ve been attracting clients who like this style more and more, and it has been empowering to integrate my own creative style into my floral designs. I can take what I make on the canvas and move it into real, living design. I like to think my designs reflect me in many ways. My unique, whimsical, experimental color patterns and designs show how I interact with the world as an artist with a curious mind and busy hands.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
The best way to collaborate and work with me is by reaching out via email! As much as I would like to be better at social media, it’s just one of those things that fall to the wayside as a small business owner and a one-woman show. I occasionally post on Instagram (@Evergreen_Florals), but my email is where all the communication takes place. If you’re a bride looking for a florist, submit a consultation form through my website (AbideInEvergreen.com) and we can make some magic together! If you’re a photographer or other wedding vendor looking to collaborate, send me an email directly (AbideInEvergreen@gmail.com) and I would love to blend our creative minds to make something beautiful together!
