Rising Stars: Meet Alexandria Wallace

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Wallace.

Hi Alexandria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always wanted to pursue photography ever since high school. I always had to creative eye for photos. I set a goal for myself to start a few years ago! All it took was a good support system around me to encourage me to give it a shot and I knew I wouldn’t give up without putting my all into it. For someone who used to be pretty introverted, it was a matter of putting myself out there and learning to come out of my comfort zone! Fast forward to this the day everything I did has paid off, all the free shoots, content days, giveaways and booking myself so full I couldn’t juggle my full-time healthcare job and all my sessions or weddings. I love what I do and love that all my clients have become a huge part of my dreams coming true!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh no, not at all! You face a lot of different obstacles along the way. Some obstacles even make you question if you’re cut out for this type of business. Some of the struggles I had in the beginning was learning to have a backbone. I never had any experience running a business or being my own boss and sometimes it can be hard I had to learn to stand my ground in a professional way or my people would never take my business serious. Sometimes it is also easy to compare yourself to other photographers which give you the feeling that you are not good enough or imposter syndrome kicks in…. but then you get that sweet message from a client that reminds you why you choose photography.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer who mostly specializes in wedding photography, engagement sessions or couple sessions and your occasional maternity shoot! I am most proud of the fact I started this all on my own. I never went to college for it; I studied and worked my butt off to be where I am today. I’ve met some pretty great photographers along the way who also taught me a lot and I feel like you just keep learning new techniques. I think what sets me apart from others is I really do have a lot of passion in what I do. Nothing is a better feeling during a session when you look at an image on the back of your camera and you’re like that’s the ONE and being so excited to see the final outcome!

What’s next?
I would love to be able to do more elopements out west or luxury wedding photographer. Possibly would love to add a videographer to my team one day!
