Today we’d like to introduce you to QueenAsia Moore.
Hi QueenAsia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
For as young as I can remember, I knew I would be some type of entrepreneur one day. I just had that hustle bone in me. From hustling and selling empanadas in high school with my best friend to pay for our prom, from being the creator/founder of r&b singer Lloyd’s first promotional group called Lloyd Ladies & then being a part of a blog talk show group and building their following from 10 to 10k. I just had it in me but I realized it was time to do something for myself. I have always loved the idea of a more holistic lifestyle, especially being a migraine suffer, so I started gravitating toward massage therapy a little over ten years ago. I fell in love with everything massage therapy had to offer and I realized that this is my lane, this is where I will flourish and help others at the same time, which is most important to me. I graduated from Swedish Institute in NYC and ventured off to start expanding in GA. Still building and growing but this is only the beginning for myself and Zuri Massage – Massages by Queen.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Has this been a smooth road? Absolutely NOT. Haha. School alone had me questioning whether or not I wanted to continue following my dream. Especially having to go through school during the pandemic and trying to understand such hands-on learning… ONLINE. Man, that was tough. Then being thrown back into school, wondering if it was truly safe to return, wondering if I retained the knowledge to pass exams and wondering if I had gotten “rusty” with my massage techniques from being online schooled for so long. That alone was not an easy road. Then you have the glorious road to finishing school, celebrating and graduating but knowing that a state board was coming up months after graduation and needing to keep the knowledge fresh in your mind but still also wanting to vacay and continue celebrating that achievement. Once that was complete, there is another board test to take which grants you permission to practice massage therapy in other states.
Last but definitely not least… it’s the start of the actual business! Luckily I began most steps back in 2020 just to jumpstart myself, but there are always things that are challenging, for one, having issues with my business name and my PLLC because they are so specific with naming.. the list goes on. Point is, starting a business, being an entrepreneur is not for the weak! You will be tried on so many things but you just have to keep going and find those loopholes! Know that the money you will need to invest in your business will come back to you but only with time, dedication and determination. Make sure you don’t quit your day job just yet, you’ll need to fund yourself for a while until you start making a real life-changing profit.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Zuri Massage – Massages by Queen?
Zuri Massage – Massages by Queen is my massage therapy business where I provide bodywork services such as Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, medical massage, sound therapy and more to come! I also sell products, which has no effect on the massages provided but my products include, massage oil candles in 3 scents, a detoxifying charcoal mask, an overnight drying spot cream & a cold brew beard oil. What I am known for is my energetic massages, meaning, during a massage session with me, you will enter in such a state of deep relaxation, the intention I want to provide, the intention we decide on for that session will be felt in such a way that you will forget where you are and where you’ve been because you will be so much in the moment that nothing else will matter.
What I am most proud of, brand-wise is the fact that my products are extremely effective. I have been working on my products since 2020, testing them out on myself(& different men for the beard oil) and I am so pleased to have created products that really make a difference. I am also proud of having returning clients in which I end up making a positive change in their lives because of the effects my massage therapy sessions have given them. What the readers should know about my brand, business and services is that my number one goal is to be effective. If I am not of help, I deem myself as no good. My top priorities are keeping people safe, happy and feeling comfortable in their bodies.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5-10 years, the massage therapy business is going to skyrocket! Simply because more and more people are wanting to be at peace, to be stress-free, treat their bodies properly and to enter a more holistic way of living. Massage therapy is also being more recognized in the medical field now so I’m sure within the next 5-10 years, massage therapy will be a positive force. Not to forget to mention, there are many surgeries being done and lymphatic manual drainage is starting to become more of a need, as well as for cancer patients needing assistance with lymphatic drainage.
