Conversations with Emmett Hunter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmett Hunter.

Hi Emmett, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my acting journey when I booked my first speaking role during the final season of the hit USA Network series Burn Notice. It was only my 2nd time auditioning for film or television. Needless to say, I immediately caught the acting bug. I went on to book hit shows likes Bloodline, Atlanta, Madam Secretary, Homeland, Stan Against Evil, American Horror Story, Better Call Saul, and my other wonderful film and television shows. I’ve been blessed to share the screen with legendary actors like Claire Danes, Donald Glover, John C. McGinley, Johnathan Banks, and many others. Through hard work, determination, many rejections, ups and downs, I’ve developed the thick skin and true grit necessary to remain in relentless pursuit of this of my dream of becoming an actor.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey as an actor has definitely not been an easy one… Throughout the years, I’ve auditioned for hundreds of film and television shows. I’ve fallen short many times and only booked a handful of the jobs I’ve gone out for. I’ve had dozens of callbacks, pins, and avails that never materialized! I had to stay positive, stay focused and see each opportunity as a chance to perform and get better.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a television and film actor with over 30 television and film credits. I can play a wide range of characters, but I’m known for playing the mysterious magical characters like Ahmad White on the FX series Atlanta or Gerard Duquette from the IFC series Stan Against Evil. I’m also known to play serious authoritative characters like Captain Renwick from the AMC series Fear the Walking Dead: Dead in the Water.
