Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazz.
Hi Jazz, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Music has always been something I could do effortlessly. It’s the one thing that always kept hope in my heart. It’s my passion that has pushed so much purpose in me. I’ve been performing since the age of two. School was my stage. I was in everything always upfront.
My mother sowed into my creativity as much as she could. She nurtured my love for writing in every way possible. She placed me in piano and guitar which only fueled so many avenues I am in today. By 14, I was singing professionally and that avenue guided me to studio production. By high school, I linked with an amazing producer by the name of Byron the Aquarius, who truly helped me find my voice. With him not only did I release my first Ep, but I started to grow from an artist to a producer. As I grew so did my purpose in music. I started my creative company called Artistic intelligence. My purpose was not only to provide creative services but to provide creative opportunities that created income for artists as well. My journey has led me to work with people such as Dark Child, Nickelodeon, Tyler Perry Studio and so many amazing artists.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Out of everything I’ve encountered, I only saw the bumpy road as life lessons. Being a woman in the music industry has had its share of potholes, but I figured it out and grew from every bump. I saw that the only person that was making the road shaky was myself. See, doubt has its way of fooling us. It brings a distraction that comes in the form of insecurities or defeat. I conquered that voice.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a composer, artist, songwriter, and music producer. I create all kinds of music and bring frequencies to life. I’m most proud of independently doing so many of the work I’ve done. Without a label, I’ve moved so many mountains I dreamed of as a child. Honestly, I’m most proud of the lives I’ve changed in the midst of doing what I love.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is accomplishing the purpose. Our passion fuels our purpose. My purpose is people. If I can ignite the light of another, I see success in that.
