Meet Shelby Scott

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelby Scott.

Shelby, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started with a tiny pink digital camera I carried around as a kid, always taking pictures of everything! From there, I joined the yearbook staff at my high school in tenth grade. My favorite part about being on the yearbook staff was taking photos, I spent my Friday nights standing on the sidelines at our football games taking pictures of the games. The first time I broke out from that and started doing portraits was my best friend’s senior portraits and I’ve been taking portraits ever since! After that, I started taking photos of family and friends and after spending a few semesters in college for a business degree, I decided that it wasn’t for me and I wanted to pursue photography as a career. I found a college up in the north Georgia mountains called North Georgia Technical College that offered a photography program. I applied, attended and just graduated in 2021 with my associates in photography. I am now running Shelby Nicole Photography part-time as the owner and photographer based out of Gainesville!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not always been easy, trying to figure out how to start and run a business has been such a challenge. Learning all of the things that go on behind the scenes in a business and trying to keep up hasn’t been easy, there’s always something I’m falling behind on whether it be editing or constantly updating my socials, the list never seems to end especially while also working full time during the day. Being your own boss turns out not to be as easy as it may appear!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in portrait and event photography. I shoot everything from families, children, couples and seniors to weddings and everything in between! I think my favorite portraits are working with couples, watching their love show through the camera and the images bring me so much joy. I think what sets me apart from the rest is the ability to make my clients comfortable in front of my camera, I have so many people tell me that they’re so nervous because they’ve never been in front of the camera and they have no idea what to do. I love when I get to those shoots and quickly find out that they are true naturals. I want my clients to feel comfortable and be confident when working with me.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Just reach out! If you want to work with me, shoot me a message on my socials. Even if you’re just thinking about having photos done, a like or follow on social media is the easiest way to support us small businesses.
