Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Burton.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Like a lot of people, I was feeling very burnt out during covid. I started working for a family friend who is a florist just to try it out and instantly fell in love. Later, when I was trying to quit my job (for a multitude of reasons), I got a part-time gig as a farmhand and that opened up the world of growing flowers which is really the next step for me. Everything was kinda an accident or a result of me just needing a change of pace and I’m happy I let myself change.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, because starting a small business is hard. Learning all the ins and outs of it all can be daunting. Getting clients can be scary. It’s disheartening when somebody tells you no and you need to make money. But all the struggles are worth it every time I reach a new goal or see somebody be totally happy with the designs I created for them.
We’ve been impressed with Morning Glory Floral Design, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Florist, flower grower and artist. I specialize in weddings and events but am moving into offering my own flowers as well in the spring of 2023. I’m proud that I’m integrating locally grown and organic practices into my business because those causes mean a lot to me. Readers should definitely keep an eye out for fresh flowers grown by me this spring.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Ask for help when you need it because you can’t do it alone.
