Daily Inspiration: Meet Jasmine Keepler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Keepler.

Jasmine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My creativity commenced through the sheer act of venting. At around the age of five, I started writing about my feelings, my dreams and stenciling my imagination on paper. Writing allowed me to escape from the normalcy of struggle, abuse, and generations of trauma. Though writing gave me a sense of relief, those harsh attributes [struggle, abuse & generational trauma] are exactly what shaped me as a writer. I went on to not only write but to seek art in anything I could place my hands on–drawing, singing, and playing instruments. Over the years, I realized writing & storytelling was very prominent way to keep any tradition, person or feeling alive. I knew it could be a way I could leave my mark and change the world in the simplest way. So I put my gift on the front line & began my journey as a Freelance Writer.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has been FAR from smooth; however, I do not expect it to be. The hardest struggle is remaining consistent. When you’re your own boss, sometimes it can be a challenge to stay motivated and rid your mind of all the discouraging distractions. As humans, naturally, we can be our own worst enemy. And as an artist, I struggle with overthinking and overanalyzing. I’m sure I’ll find the balance one of these days though.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Creator–A Poet & Freelance Writer, specializing in creative works such as content and creative copywriting. I consider Poetry my strong suit because it comes naturally–expressing the vivid thoughts and ideas that decorate the walls of my mind. In the creative world, I am mostly known for Poetry, however I am most proud of my culturally motivated short story, “The Backside of the ‘Partments” that will be available on Kindle in the next few weeks. What sets me apart from others is my insight and empathic nature. The ability to “read the room” isn’t hard, but to be able to “read the room”, harness the emotion, and express it in a modest way is what changes your title from an Artist to a Creator. And with great modesty, I consider myself a Creator.

How do you define success?
Success is a feeling. It’s not measured by money or material. Creatively, in my opinion, success is the feeling of depicting a certain story, cause or movement and relating to other people. To touch one with your work.
