Today we’d like to introduce you to Albert Wilcox.
Hi Albert, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After starting my music career in Miami and getting a good start, I decided to travel to the Mecca of hip hop and Rap, none other than Atlanta. I attended showcases and events all through the city and increased my following, but I knew there could be more. As an artist, I found it very difficult to broadcast my music to everyone in the way I thought it should be. I knew I had the “IT” factor but didn’t know how to show people in Atlanta that I was talented in so many different musical genres. I knew there had to be a way to show my music to the world. I have a background in technology, and I find myself to be very creative and fashion-forward, so I came up with a brilliant idea. I searched the web looking for the product which I had conceived in my mind and found nothing, so I knew it was me and the drawing board. I developed my first prototype of Mypakk by installing a screen into a bookbag in 2019. After accompanied the screen with a blue tooth speaker and decided to take it to the mall for my first test run, the product was a hit! After a few minor kinks were worked out, I submitted my product for a patent and received 3 approved patents in 2021 and 2022. Since then, my ideas have escalated, I have now started a new line of bookbags called Money over Fashion, with bright colors that feature teddy bears with chains and Bluetooth phones attached to the bags. The bags and technology are so much more than just that, you can stream things when you are out, like a football game and upon request, I have installed video game remotes for people to play their favorite video games on the go. All you need is an 8-inch or 10-inch tablet and the world is yours. Starting in 2023 I will begin a new virtual reality technology with the jewelry and signs so stay tuned!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of the obstacles that I have faced are getting people to see the vision. I have had a good success with the local community but getting the big corporations to see the vision and invest has been challenging. I know that this product has great quality and use, I just want people to see the idea and love it the way I do.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an install technician that installs surveillance cameras, this goes back to my love for technology and knowing how to work with it. Outside of that, I spend a lot of my time creating, my mind never stops with new ideas, I design a lot of my own clothing as well in my spare time.
What matters most to you?
I just want to see everyone that I am around win. I want to see everyone flourish. I am loyal, sometimes to a fault. My loyalty trumps anything. If I am with a team and they are working for me and I am working for them, no amount of money could destroy that. I pride myself in being as authentic as I can and not faking it til you fake it. I am a hard worker and I believe it will pay off for me in the end.
