Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a master loctician. Specializing in loc maintenance, starter locs and Loc extensions. I am a hairstylist from the Washington, D.C. (dmv) area. And I also travel to Atlanta. I’m looking to relocate to Atlanta soon. I feel my business will take off to that next level moving their. I am an entrepreneur as well! I have been doing hair since the age of 14 years old. But I have been a loctician for 10+ years now. I also have locs myself. I’m almost nine years into my loc journey. I started my business and wanted to get out of working for someone else. And to pay off my student loan debt. I have a bachelor’s degree and currently working on my master’s in business (digital entrepreneurship). My father is also a business owner and where some of my inspiration came from. But I was also inspired to become a stylist because I enjoy making others happy. And it’s nothing like seeing a person smile and be excited about getting their hair done. My clients make me feel so special when they tell me I am the best and my work is amazing. I do it for the joy of others. My overall goal is to serve the public in any way I can. I want to take my hair care products to the next level. I have a natural hair growth oil. That I created right before the pandemic. And it has been selling like crazy. I created this product because in the black hair care business it’s hard to find one product that gets the job done. This oil has been helping me and my clients fix our crowns (hair). And I plan to take it to the next level with a full hair care line soon.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No! It will never been a smooth road in entrepreneurship. You make money daily and sometimes you can a great week than a bad week. Where you don’t make the money you intended to make. Also, trying to go to school while trying to work. And also I just became a new mom to my eight months old. So I have to also factor in time to take care of my son as well as running my business.

ReneeLocGoddessLLC is my business name. My middle name is Renee, I have locs and consider myself a goddess. This where I got the inspiration for my business name. I specialize in loc maintenance, starter locs and permanent loc extensions. This is what I am known for and color correction for locs. What sets me aside from others is my passion for perfection when it comes to styling someone’s hair. No one can ever say they got out of my chair and their hair was too flawless. I love to see clean parts with locs and on any hair texture. I am most proud of my natural hair care oil. How it actually works and how much my clients love it. I want the readers to know that I am professional and passionate about making others feel good about themselves. And that doing business with me will never leave them disappointed. Also that I am one of the best to ever do it. And that they will see my products in stores one day soon. This is one if my biggest goals.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as when you can overcome every obstacle. Rather it be negative or small and your able to still get the job done.
