Today, we’d like to introduce you to Amber Deramus. Amber was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Zollyann Howell.
Amber, can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a young girl, I’ve always had a passion for makeup and hair. Pretty much the beauty industry. By the time when I was 14 years of age I started modeling, I didn’t know too much about makeup but I knew I had to do my hair and makeup for shows. That was the start of my adventure to becoming a self-taught MUA. Throughout the years, I started branching out with my makeup and hair. People started noticing how well I did makeup on myself and I started receiving request from other individuals to do their makeup and it just went from there. I started going live on social media spreading my work and teaching people how to apply their own makeup. I would have never imagined I would have the skills that I have now, and with those skills I now stay booked and busy.
Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
As mentioned above, I am a traveling MUA , business owner (Janielle Cosmetics) and stylist. I also have my very own Non-profit organization called Jewels and Gents, which is for children ages 7-18 years old. I’m able to do all of this and still do my day career as a mail carrier. I stay pretty busy but whatever I set my mind to do, I do not stop until it is done. I’m not your average mua/ stylist. I’m very unique when it comes to my style and technique with makeup and hair. I take my time with my clients all while giving them the ultimate experience and I give them classes while I’m doing their makeup as well. I love to educate and teach whatever I know, and that goes for makeup, hair styling and my organization.
Zollyann Howell and BAE & CO. have been great to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship with them as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Zollyann Howell and BAE & CO. and your experience with them.
Zollyann is an awesome person who I had the chance to meet on Facebook. Never would I have imagined I would work with her with the previous projects we have completed. Our first initial contact was with her Mindset Mixer. She was very professional, she sent my package which included her book, an informational booklet to help me prepare for my goals along with a bottle of champagne and this cute pen that’s my favorite. In her mixer class, she was very welcoming and very knowledgeable. I felt a great connection amongst the other young ladies that was on the zoom because she set the tone so well everyone was interacting like we personally knew each other. It was an amazing experience and I can’t wait for the next Mixer.
Not only did I have the opportunity to attend Zollyann’s Mixer but I had the Opportunity to model for her boutique Brand BAE & CO. as a plus size model. Y’all when I got there I was nervous but when I tell you Zollyann made me feel so welcomed, I immediately fell In love with working with her. She was patient and kind to both myself and the other model. Everything was very professional from meeting her in person all the way down to the photographers. The entire energy was unmatched I must say. The clothes were phenomenal and they fit perfectly to every inch of my body. I love that the brand BAE & CO offers plus size clothing that fits well and looks well. You do not find may boutiques that offers plus size in good quality so that was definitely a plus.
Zollyann has inspired me to go harder with my brand. I see how well she pushes her brand and market herself on social media. She’s truly a hard working person and I love to surround myself around like minded women like Zollyann. I can’t wait to see what the future collaboration will be for us. This experience has been very life changing in so many ways and I’m truly amazed.
