Community Highlights: Meet Jamella Daniel of Proper Point Homes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamella Daniel.

Hi Jamella, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a child of immigrant parents, I have always had an interest in real estate but took the long route when turning my passion into my profession. A sincere note of helping my local community has always resonated within me. This initially led me to become an educator, of which I spent many years in the profession as a math teacher in Atlanta, working all over the METRO with all ages; from diapering to graduating.

Working with at-risk seniors as a part of the TARGET 2020 program, I found inspiration in this phenomenal city; sparked by something other than education that will stabilize my community. I realized that I wanted a career that was more impactful to families and future generations in my hometown. While mentoring was satisfying, I found myself longing to work in a more meaningful aspect and was ready to live, eat, and breathe real estate. Although I had not taken a single course yet, I was hooked on real estate, and there was no turning back.

I feel fortunate to have discovered, through the peers and mentors who have guided me, a unique way of working in real estate that aligns with my personal and professional values; working by referral means that I focus on my clients and their needs with a long-term perspective, helping clients with real estate issues or questions wherever and whenever they arise.

Moreover, I view myself not just as an agent but as a support, assisting clients not only to buy or sell but to strategize toward long-term wealth building.

Representative of Atlanta, I am a total foodie, outdoors enthusiast, and movie buff. When I am not selling houses, you’ll find me around Atlanta enjoying the BeltLine, at the arcade with my family, painting or exploring the nation’s best food and music venues. It’s easy to sell something when you have a genuine passion for it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Getting here was a matter of sheer grit and determination. Although I loved working in education, I knew that it was time for a change.

Balancing working full time, motherhood and adding a real estate course to my plate seemed like a lot to many but to me it was doable.

I told everyone don’t worry I can handle it. Only to learn along the way I was expecting another child. I remember battling morning sickness day and night, running to the bathroom, cleaning up and then laying down with my mobile course in bed determined to finish.

As I wrapped my course final and prepared to take my exam, I was involved in a rear-end accident which caused me and my unborn baby to be hospitalized for three days. My state licensing exam was merely two days away.

My options were to reschedule it due to the unforeseen circumstance or push through and continue as I had planned.

My body went into labor early and the nurses were administering magnesium to stop my labor. I felt like I was on the brink of death, the violent episodes of vomiting, the draining aspect of the treatment was unbearable. It was a physical and mental hurdle.

For three days of being sicker than I have ever been in my life, I sat in the hospital bed still with the mobile course doing my practice exams. I had to take that exam. No, if ands or buts about it.

After my release from the hospital and now my car needing a major repair, it seemed like an uphill battle.

I had less than 48 hours to walk into my exam.

I practiced until I couldn’t practice anymore. Walked into my exam with no sleep the night before. My pregnancy and anxiety keeping me awake, I was nervous.

When I submitted my exam and walked to the proctor for my results and saw that smile on her face, I cried. elated, overjoyed and so satisfied that my fear didn’t keep me from this success.

It was the hardest thing to do but I knew that these obstacles were a testament to my determination and strength. Seeing that I can overcome any challenge is the biggest takeaway. You can do anything you attune your heart and intentions to.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
As a Realtor, it is not only my duty but my commitment to my clients that sets me apart.

I truly love real estate for the fact that it aligns with my core values, I enjoy helping others…

My attentiveness to my clients whether they are spending a few thousand or a couple hundred thousand is unwavering. I know I’m the right agent when I hear others, unfortunately, being brushed off by other agents who make it known they do not have time for certain people; I aim to be that change in this industry.

I give all of my clients the reassurance that I am available to them and that alone has led to the expansion of my business through referrals.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My dad, he is my rock and I am eternally grateful for his support. Literally, him driving me around for hours on end with my car being in repair due to the accident. I literally could not have done it without him.

My family, my friends, and coworkers everyone was supportive of my dream which meant a lot to me. When you know you have people in your corner, it gives you that umph to go the extra mile.
