Community Highlights: Meet Jodie Kennedy-Aguina of Qoh Nail Nart & Essentials

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodie Kennedy-Aguina.

Hi Jodie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
During the start of the pandemic, I decided to start doing my own nails. I completed school to become a nail technician which led to me starting my business. I began posting my nail art on social media and started getting clients through Instagram, self-promoting and referrals. I decided that I also wanted to start creating soaps, lotions, cuticle oil and scrubs to expand my business and brand. I attended a few Pop-Up shops and soon, Qoh Nail Art & Essentials was born.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? Of course, NOT! Anything you do for the first time will have its ups and downsides to it. When you have a vision, and you know what you want for your business and most importantly for your customers/clients it can be more exciting than stressful along the way.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Qoh Nail Art & Essentials is a brand that services clients for nail care, nail art and essential needs. I am a licensed nail technician that specializes in nail care, nail art and creating all-natural soaps, cuticle oil, lotion and hand/foot scrubs. What sets me apart from others is my customer service skills and willingness to continue to learn more as I go. I’m most proud of making my brand my own, from my logo down to the name and my services offered, I did it my way. Qoh Nail Art & Essentials offers manicures, pedicures, costume press-on sets and essential care products.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice to any entrepreneur is to find a business group that provides knowledge about how to start the type of business that you are interested in. I usually take bits and pieces from other business owners that I follow and make it my own. It’s also very important to surround yourself with people that are business driven, motivating and honest. You’ll find that in business you are just as successful as the people you surround yourself with.
