Check Out Salma Djalal’s Youth Advisor at Inpathy Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Salma Djalal.

Hi Salma, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was always passionate about cultivating accessible, diverse spaces that allow people to explore themselves and express their creativity. Spaces that have room for authenticity and provide opportunities to grow. I was introduced to Inpathy through the Headstream Youth Advisory Program. Inpathy is a social app that inspires transparency, normalizes moods, and recreates the human experience.

Inpathy’s mission aligned with what I believe is essential in digital spaces. I got to work with the founder Ziarekenya Smith and the co-founder Kathryn Smith very closely to build the best possible experience for Inpathy users.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Figuring out what works and what doesn’t work is always a lot of work but I think that working with a team that is passionate about digital wellness reminds you of your intentions and why you’re doing what you’re doing.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a multidisciplinary artist mainly working with paint and digital art as my mediums. I love to create a narrative painting that focuses on self-reflection through moments of stillness and comfort.

As I am exploring my experience as an artist, it has allowed me to take a step back and look at how we as a collective live our experience and how much wellness needs to be a part of it. Especially considering how we occupy digital spaces, the intention behind our interactions shapes how we act as a community.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Finding digital communities has been something that I prioritize and gain so much joy from. For example, CIRRI is a creative wellness sphere that I love to visit and feel seen through the stories and experiences of black women and femmes. I also am very inspired by the podcast The Digital Sisterhood. TDS is a platform that aims to unite women of color and counter the pre-existing narrative of what it means to be a Muslim woman. They share stories of authenticity, struggle, love and really normalize the ups and downs of life experiences.
