Inspiring Conversations with Audrey Renee of Curse Broken Collection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Renee.

Hi Audrey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started as a spoken word artist in the Hampton Roads area. I became a single mom and my world shifted for the better. My journey into being a single mother started with me living in a transitional housing program that helped me get back on my feet. I stayed in that program for 1 year, then my daughter and I got the keys to our new home. Around that time, I created the “Dear Single Mommy” brand where I blogged about my journey as a  single mom. Next, I started a single moms group to bring a community of moms together to encourage each other. That catapulted me to becoming a speaker where I shared my story on not just my single mom journey but how I saved 10K, left my full-time job, and became a full-time entrepreneur with my apparel line “Curse Broken” Collection in the middle of a pandemic. My gift of speaking is still opening doors and I’m always excited about where it will lead me next.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There was a time when I lost everything materialistically and had to start all over again with a newborn on my hip. It was a traumatic experience but I found so many lessons in it. I believe all roads will have obstacles that you just learn how to navigate through. When I reflected on my past I noticed I had a habit of thinking that I would lose it all again. Yet, my therapist made me look at what I gained. What helped me navigate those challenges was my faith in God and a strong community. There is beauty in the challenges I faced that made me wiser and stronger as a woman.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of the Curse Broken apparel line, which helps families start the conversation about generational curses in their bloodline. We use the motto “When they say it runs in the family, we say this is where it runs out!”. I believe that our generation could do a lot of healing, unlearning, and rebuilding when we just have a transparent conversation. I am also a part of the leadership team for a Non-Profit Organization that helps Single Moms who share my same story about facing homelessness.

What sets me apart from everyone is my fingerprint. I know that is a weird way to answer this question but I honestly don’t think there is another way to answer it.  My fingerprint is what identifies my physical and biological characteristics. Since no two people have the same fingerprint, I can say I am already uniquely made. So just being me and doing what I was created to do sets me apart from others. Yet at the same time, it helps me partner with others to complete the mission and purpose we are all here to do.
