Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Singleton-Smith.
Alexandria, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Sacramento, California with my Mother, Father and two older brothers. When I was a little girl, my mother sold Mary Kay and I would sneak into her makeup bag and take the makeup samples. This is where my love for makeup began. And I started to do makeup on my classmates and friends for school events. As a young adult during weekdays I worked at my Uncle Cedric Singleton’s record label “Black Market Records”. Not only did I work as an office administrator, I would do hair & makeup for video shoots, album covers and movies. I also appeared in music videos. I was then discovered an signed to a modeling agency where I did print modeling. During the weekends I worked as an apprentice at my friend’s salon doing hair and makeup.
Two summers ago my fiancé Quentin Smith, now husband, and I went on vacation and visited Atlanta and we fell in love with Georgia so we left California and moved to Georgia. He got a job right away and has become a very popular barber in Atlanta.
Coming from a family with a well-known legacy in the entertainment business, I decided to follow in the footsteps of my father and uncles Cedric Singleton and late John Singleton and started my YouTube channel, mua.alexandria. And I’m working on getting my own makeup line. My mother is my manager and my father is a musician Maurice Singleton who does some of the music for my videos with his band member Malcolm 2001. I still book clients for weddings, proms and event makeup.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With anything in life comes challenges. I try, I live by the motto: “eventually all pieces fall into place”. Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moment and know that everything happens for a reason.

Being a makeup artist/ influencer, it’s important to stand apart. What sets me apart from others is my passion for my craft. I believe my passion helps me stand out and inspires my creativity and ability to think outside the box and gives my viewers and clients quality work. I’m proud of myself for setting an example that you can have it all the marriage, the kids and career and not fall short.
How do you think about happiness?
What truly makes me happy is God waking me up every day to do what I love with the people that I love surrounding me. Seeing my client’s inner confidence shine through after having their makeup done by me is a great feeling. And being able to inspire and teach many people around the world via YouTube brings joy to my heart.
