Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Latrice Bonner, PhD, MBA, MA.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I truly believe that sharing my story is one of the most rewarding things that I can do! Not only for myself but for others as well who may have similar stories or gain inspiration from my journey. I grew up in a small military town in Texas where we had the option to enroll in vocational courses in high school. I would say I have always been fascinated with the beauty industry as well as the health and wellness. I elected cosmetology and began my journey as a cosmetologist at the age of 15 and earned my cosmetology license at 18. Also, because of my family background in the military, as well as myself a prior service Army Veteran, I have seen so many injuries and different treatment options for recovery.
Therefore, I’ve always had several things in my home to ensure that I practice self-care and holistic health and wellness options. Fast forward to 2020, I began to have several of my family members coming to my home to utilize the health and wellness options that I had available. This encouraged me to seek out office space in Atlanta to pursue my passion and provide services to my community. In January 2021 there was an opportunity presented to me by a broker to acquire an existing business. Therefore, I purchase the name and the business CryoEVOLUTION and re-branded it as CryoEVOLUTION by Dr. B.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
That’s a very multi-dimensional question. I believe we make the road by walking, which is the title of a profound book that I read in grad school by Miles Horton and Paulo Freire. This basically means that your road is what you make it. So, to answer your question No, the road has not been easy. However, I believe that along the way I have learned a lot about how to maneuver through this new space, still in a field that I really am familiar with. One of the main challenges that I would say I experience as a business owner are uncontrollable external forces. Although I have a business background, I would say that the unknown is always constant and there will always be changes in the dynamics that are out of your control. There’s no way to account for external forces that impact our day-to-day life.
These are things such as something as simple as the weather to something as catastrophic as a global pandemic. It is always the things that you can’t plan for or predict that really create a lot of the obstacles that I encounter. More specifically there are situations where we may be waiting for a delivery that is being shipped from out of state. This state may be in the middle of a State of Emergency. Thus, this would impact our business. It’s challenging at times because you have customers that still need to be served. However, environmental factors or transit delays are prohibiting you from doing that. Therefore, I would say that it’s important to have a good relationship with your clients and the community that you serve so that they understand that there are times that things happen outside of your control. They understand that as soon as it is available, we will be able to continue business as usual. So, I believe that my clients and my community really help to ensure that when we are faced with challenges and obstacles that I need to overcome, they are understanding.

This is both for the clients and future entrepreneurs. As an entrepreneur and educator, I want to be able to help others to own their own franchise and to be able to serve their community. I believe that access to technology such as the technology we use in cryotherapy for both whole body or target cryotherapy, fat freezing, compression therapy and the other services that we offer are essential and it should be readily available to everyone. Therefore, by teaching mentoring and guiding other entrepreneurs, they will also be able to provide these services to those in their community. Our services are for everyone, and I believe that through growth and further expansion, we will be able to share the benefits of “Next Generation Recovery!!”
