Life & Work with Nicholas Warfield

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Warfield.

Hi Nicholas, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started off doing art when I was around seven years old and never stopped. I always loved creating my own stories, sequential art, and just creating art in general as a kid by any means necessary. So, I kept that passion going by secretly working on my own comics, not-so-secretly posting any cool artwork I’ve made over the years, and going to get my Associate’s Degree of Art at Georgia State University when I was 19. By then, I felt that I needed to broaden my horizons as a creative, so I branched out to Florida to obtain my Bachelor’s degree of Science in Animation at Full Sail University. Now, at the age of 22, I am out in the world as a trained artist, writer, animator, etc. working on personal content and content for a newer gaming studio founded by peers I met at Full Sail.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has most definitely not been a smooth road for me. One of the biggest ongoing struggles for me and my family has been financial instability. With having a single mother thriving to take care of and put three children through college, me being the youngest, life has not been easy. Another major struggle for me was irrefutably the pandemic happening through my entire time in school in Florida! I grew up in a home school, so college was a major networking opportunity for me, however unfortunately most of that experience was lost in the wind due to COVID-19. Nevertheless, I was blessed enough to get through everything alive and thriving soon-to-be flying.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I currently specialize in 3D animation and stylized art, however, I am more known for my stylized art. I am most proud of becoming a certified animator at 21 years old while maintaining my passions for sequential, 2D art and writing. I believe that everything has some form of useful knowledge in it once one can understand it better, this mindset works for me as a multifaceted creative because I’m always looking at life as a learning opportunity. As a result, I feel as though I am always observing, growing, developing, and evolving as both an Artist and a person.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Well, I was the weird kid who ALWAYS brought my sketchbook and if I didn’t, I would find paper or napkins somewhere-somehow. Throughout my entire childhood, I remained passionate about creating things, that was my main interest.
