Hidden Gems: Meet Tiana Littlejohn of Black Female Owned

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiana Littlejohn.

Hi Tiana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Black Female Owned, LLC is a lifestyle brand and movement that celebrates black ownership through self-marketing apparel and special branded products. I founded my company in 2018 while working full-time for the Cleveland County Department of Social Services and fulfilling my duties as a Religious Affairs NCO for the North Carolina Army National Guard. As a Woman of faith, I felt that God was aligning my positions of service for entrepreneurship. After choosing the name of my brand and deciding that I wanted to sell apparel and other products for entrepreneurs, I made an Instagram page and began connecting with black female entrepreneurs from all over the Country. This was the initial start for my company, but I had no idea all that God had in store.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Black Female Owned will celebrate five years of business this year and I can tell you it has been far from smooth. God’s plans for your life are often very scary and uncomfortable. In fact, hearing the word smooth reminds me of an airplane ride. You may be on your way to one of the most exciting vacations of your life and for the first hour, the airplane ride is smooth but then it changes. Sometimes the turbulence you endure can cause you to be fearful and forget about your ultimate destination and how amazing it will be once you get there. As an entrepreneur, you have to be willing to fight through the turbulence when you’re flying high and fulfilling God’s purpose for your life.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Black Female Owned, LLC?
Black Female Owned, LLC is a force to be reckoned with. Our company is set apart as one of the few black-owned unisex brands offering self-marketing apparel for entrepreneurs. In addition to our apparel, we also offer special branded products including a coffee collection, home goods, accessories and more.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe the most important quality to my success is consistency. As an entrepreneur, you are constantly learning and you’ll never have all of the answers to your problems so you must be willing to adapt and remain open-minded. Most people become frustrated with the fact that they can’t figure it all out so they give up before seeing what is actually being produced by their consistency.
