Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Greene and Sara Beth Brown.
Amy and Sara, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our Dad, Frank Brown, started the company in 1974. It was a small store in a very small strip center across the street from where our Roswell store is now. In 1974, there wasn’t a whole lot of development in Roswell – lots of horse pastures and farms. As Atlanta continued to grow, so did Roswell as well as Brown and Company. The store moved to an independent building across the street where we are located now. The building has been expanded multiple times and we have partnered with so many incredible brands, such as Rolex, Patek Philippe and David Yurman. We expanded with a second location into the Atlanta market about eight years ago. Along with our many expansions, we have built and incredible shop with over ten jewelers that can custom design and create just about any jewelry item on site.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Retail is constantly changing and it is a challenge to stay nimble and relevant to the consumer. We are lucky that as an independent and family owned business we can react quickly to market demand.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Brown & Company Jewelers – what should we know?
We like to say that we can do it all when it comes to jewelry. We are a one stop shop for any diamonds, engagement fashion or timepiece that you are in the market for. In addition, we provide jewelry and watch repair, appraisal services and an on-site custom design shop. The single thing that we are most proud of would be our team. We have 45 associates between the stores and everyone that works for us is here as a career choice, not just clocking in for a job. Everyone takes pride in being a professional and we love what we do – it helps to set us apart that we are people with personalities instead of a uniformed person clocking in.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
We believe in the importance of the customer experience. As the business grows and evolves we strive to get feedback and to constantly improve the client experience. It’s importance for us to be a part of the community and to treat our associates like family, in turn, treating the clients like family. If the client knows that you really care about them and their experience, they will continue to return time and time again and to refer us to their friends and family.
