Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Thomason.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up in Detroit, MI as the oldest of three children held a great responsibility that I had to look out for my brother and sister. During the 1980s and 1990s, sports and academics became an escape from all of the commotion around me. Even though speaking wasn’t particularly one of my strong points—as I was regularly made fun off due to being tall or always attending church—the people still saw me as a leader. This attitude followed me into college where I was a leader at Oregon State University’s basketball team and a captain with Valparaiso University’s squad.
At Valpo, being in the national spotlight, I started learning what I now know as situational leadership. I learned how to push the right buttons for each member of the team to bring out their best. Little did I know that this skill would be needed when I entered the corporate world and became the basis of my business.
In 2015, I started LVL Three, LLC in response to a three-day leadership summit that I conducted on the fly. Someone said, “You need to start a company; you’re really good at this.” I had to admit that I was having fun; the people responded and transformation took place, so I decided to give it a shot.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If anyone says that the road of entrepreneurship is smooth, they are not telling the truth. There have been some big obstacles I have come across so far on this journey. One of the first things I encountered was a lack of confidence. It’s crazy; I had the confidence to jump out there, but once I got out on my own, I questioned everything – did I hear God? Was this the right thing to do? Everything!
But as you keep going, you realize it’s part of your journey and that gaining clarity and confidence only happens when you consistently take the next steps in the direction of your goal to close the gap between what you see in your mind and what becomes the reality of your life.
Other obstacles were getting over the disappointment that everyone who said they supported you would not spend their money with you. That one hurt, and the sooner you realize your business will be the strongest when it is supported by strangers, the better off you will be. But it takes some time to feel good about expanding your influence when sales aren’t coming in.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories was playing sandlot baseball. We would play all day long, taking a break long enough to get some food before doing it again. Nothing was like going to the park with your friends in the summer and being gone all day. That’s why our parents just gave up and told us to be home before the street lights came on; it was easier on them and better for us as we spent long summer days just being kids having fun.
